  • Patent number: 4832156
Abstract: A braking device is provided to reduce the speed at which a shiftable spring motor runs down. The braking device includes a pallet which is mounted so that it can oscillate, the pallet having a pair or arms which cooperate with the teeth of an escape wheel 13 which rotates as the spring runs down. The pallet is connected to a pendulum weight. The depth of engagement of the arms of the pallet in the teeth of the escape wheel as well as the amplitude of oscillation of the pallet and/or the pendulum weight connected therewith allow the braking action to be changed and hence the speed at which the motor runs down in one of a plurality of selectable shift positions.

  • Patent number: 4683986
Abstract: A spring drive mechanism has a spiral spring positioned in a spring encasement as a power source. Its ends are connected, on the one hand, to a spring encasement gear and, on the other hand, to a spring shaft gear. For the purpose of winding up the spring, the spring encasement gear is in mesh with a first drive pinion and the spring shaft gear is in mesh with a second drive pinion. These drive pinions has a stress-free connection to a wind down/wind up shaft across a unidirectional torque transmitters which each permits rotation in one direction; the directions being opposite. A reverse pinion has one pinion sprocket is mesh with the spring shaft gear. The other pinion sprocket is in mesh with the drive pinion in the wind up position. In this position, the spring drive mechanism is blocked in such a way that the tensioned driving spring cannot release.

  • Patent number: 4053029
Abstract: A spring drive mechanism which is particularly suitable for mobile toys, for example, such as small toy autos. In a spring drive mechanism of the above-mentioned type, in that the axle of the reversing pinion is a portion of a spring wire which is retained in spring drive mechanism plates, whereby a spring portion which is located on the side of the elongate aperture is constructed as an abutment for displacing the axle of the reversing pinion to thereby form the drive connection. The inner hook-shaped constructed end of the drive spring engages behind a projection on the spring core shaft. When the spring is unloaded, this construction allows for the spring core shaft to further rotate, since the now stationary or more slowly rotating inner end of the spring will not hinder the further rotational movement of the spring core shaft.

  • Patent number: 3995906
Abstract: A rock-splitting apparatus consists of a cylindrical block, in which a hydraulically actuatable piston is disposed to move in a longitudinal direction. The piston acts by way of a slider wedge which is connected to the rod of the piston on presser cheeks which can be inserted into drill holes and which have an obliquity which is complementary to that of the slider wedge, in which the presser cheeks are suspended from transverse pins by way of heads of these cheeks, so as to be axially fixed in position and capable of restricted lateral movement. That movement corresponds to the variation in width of the axially movable slider wedge; the piston rod is sealingly guided by a guide sleeve which is connected in an oil-tight manner with a casing.

  • Patent number: 3981098
Abstract: A first component in a drive is rotatable in one and in an opposite direction. A second component, such as a shaft, is rotatable also, and is connected with energy storing means which stores energy when the second component rotates. A transmission is provided which connects the first and second components to rotate the second when the first rotates. The transmission has a first branch provided with a first device which transmits motion from the first component to the second component only when the first component rotates in one direction but will not transmit such motion when this first component rotates in the opposite direction, and there is further provided in the transmission a second branch having a second device which transmits motion to the second component only when the first component rotates in the opposite direction but will not transmit motion when the first component rotates in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 3957309
Abstract: Apparatus for mechanically breaking up rock comprises a hydraulically operated piston-cylinder assembly, a slider wedge connected to the piston rod of the assembly and presser cheeks mounted on a tubular extension of the cylinder of the assembly for engagement with opposite sides of the slider wedge. A web extending transversely within the outer end of the tubular extension has an elongate opening through which "T"-shaped heads of the presser cheeks can be inserted into the tubular extension so that, on rotation through 90.degree. about the longitudinal axes of the presser cheeks, the heads are locked behind the edges of the elongate opening but capable of lateral movement along the opening as a result of axial movement of the slider wedge. Preferably, the lateral extremities of the T-shaped heads are seated between two pairs of semicircular shaped supporting plates which are retained within the tubular extension by the transversely extending web.
