  • Publication number: 20100089887
Abstract: The invention describes a method for controlling a protective shield (29) by means of a welding device (1), wherein a signal is transmitted to a welding helmet (28) by the welding device (1), whereupon an electrically activatable protective shield (29) is activated by a transmitting/receiving apparatus (31) integrated in the welding helmet (28), and the protective shield (29) is darkened. Here, during the welding process, i.e. after ignition of the electric arc (15), the protective shield (29) is activated by a control device (4) of the welding device (1) via the transmitting/receiving apparatuses (30, 31), wherein intensity and/or degree of darkening of the protective shield (29) is changed during the welding process by repetitively darkening and brightening the protective shield (29) in an alternating manner. Thus, a better welding-process observation is achieved for the welder.

  • Publication number: 20070164006
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operation of a welding unit (1), for the execution of welding processes with a welding device (2) and a welding torch (10), whereby operational states for the welding processes are recorded and, depending on the operational state, vibrations which may be felt are generated and a welding unit (1) and a welding torch (10), for carrying out said method. According to the invention, the possibility of providing feedback about particular operational states to people involved in the welding process, in particular, the welder, without the same having to look away from the welding spot or the arc (15) may be achieved, whereby, in particular, the welding current (I) or the welding voltage (V) are modulated, depending on the operational state, to generate acoustic vibrations in the arc occurring during welding, or, depending on the operational state, mechanical vibrations are generated.
