  • Patent number: 6502814
Abstract: For removing blanks (10) from a blanks magazine (14, 15) a transfer roller (18, 19) is employed which grips the blank (10) with a suction head (20) and takes it along its circumference. The transfer roller (18, 19) must be moved back and forth along a linear path of movement below the blanks magazine (14, 15) by rotating about its own axis. This movement is driven by a crank gear —crank arm (24) and strut (26) —which are directly, i.e. by means of a swivel arm (28), connected to the transfer roller (18, 19). A differential gear (23) acts to produce a linear movement of the transfer rollers (18, 19).

  • Patent number: 5549537
Abstract: In the production of hinge-lid packs with especially rounded longitudinally edges (11, 12) a blank (14) is pre-shaped in the region of a shaping station (18). To this end, the regions of the longitudinal edges (11, 12) of the blank (14) are pressed against shaping margins (23, 24) of a shaping plate (20) by shaping rollers (21, 22). To increase the performance of the shaping station (18), the shaping rollers (21, 22) are moved back into the starting position along a path of movement (29) which is located at a distance from the shaping plate (20). During this movement back into the starting position, the pre-shaped blank (14) can be discharged and a following blank can be moved into position.

  • Patent number: 5435440
Abstract: With hinge lid packs having a pack part 10 and a lid 11 hinged thereon, especially when they are equipped with round edges, it is difficult to ensure that the lid 11 precisely remains in the proper closing position. In order to guarantee an accurate closing position, a closing pressure is applied to the lid which is a result of frictional resistance or interlocking of a collar 23 in the lid 11. Collar 23 and lid 11 are interlocked by pushing webs 42, which define a recess 29 of the collar 23, into lateral openings 43 of an inner lid flap 39 so that the webs 42 move into a wedged position.

  • Patent number: 5392905
Abstract: In hinge-lid packs comprising a pack part (12) and a lid (13) hinged to a pack rear panel (15) it is difficult to ensure a precise closed position of the lid (13). This is particularly the case in hinge-lid packs with rounded longitudinal edges (10, 11). To create an additional closing force, outwardly directed deformations, particularly convexities (38), are formed in the free portion of collar side panels (28, 29) of a collar (26). These convexities abut the inner sides of the lid side panels (17) with an increased friction and thus create an increased closing force. The deformation of the collar side panels (28, 29) is a result of longitudinal collar edges (30, 31) diverging towards the free edge. As a result, there is a strain of material which effects the deformation of the collar side panels (28, 29). A further or alternative closing aid is provided in the form of an upright or inclined cut (39) arranged in the region of the collar side panels (28, 29).

  • Patent number: 5261209
Abstract: In the production of hinge lid packs with rounded longitudinal edges, collars (10) which are present in this type of pack are preshaped in the region of longitudinal edges (13) which are also rounded. For this purpose, a scoring (embossed strip 21, 22) which extends in the longitudinal direction is applied to a web of material (14). Thereafter, the collars (10) are severed from the web of material (14) and are preshaped in the region of the longitudinal edges (13) which are to be formed. The collars (10) which have been prepared in this way can be placed on a cigarette block and be further processed in the conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 5207322
Abstract: A hinge-lid pack for cigarettes or the like. It is a common problem in hinge-lid packs comprising a pack part (10) and a lid (11) articulated on a rear panel (13) of the pack part (10), to reliably lock the lid (11) in an accurate closed position. This problem particularly appears in hinge-lid packs with rounded or bevelled longitudinal edges (27, 28). To ensure the precise closed position of the lid (11), material thickenings are formed in the region of the inner side of a lid front panel (17). In closed position, these thickenings exert an increased closing pressure on upper portions of a collar (23), particularly of a collar front panel (24). This closing pressure loads the lid (11) in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4936440
Abstract: For transferring cuboid (cigarette) packs (10, 11) from a (rectilinear) pack track (12) to a drying turret (13) or the like, there is a transfer turret (17) which is designed for the reception, further transport and transfer of two packs (10, 11) at a time simultaneously. For this purpose, pocket units (20, 21, etc.) with two pockets (18, 19; 18a, 19a, etc.) arranged next to one another and fed simultaneously are mounted on the transfer turret (17). Their pocket walls (outer walls 29, 30 and inner walls 31, 32) are actuated for opening and closing via main levers (36, 37) and supporting levers (38, 39), these being supported on a rotatable cam disc (42, 43).

  • Patent number: 4918908
Abstract: To increase the output of a packaging machine especially for hinge-lid packs produced from individual blanks, the latter are fed to folding members (folding turret 31) along two parallel tracks (blank tracks 39, 40). To guarantee faultless and efficient conveyance of two blanks at a time, the blank tracks (39, 40) are arranged at a distance from one another which is greater than the distance between pockets (32, 33) of the folding turret (31), into which the blanks are to be introduced simultaneously. As a result of a transversely directed movement, the blanks are moved toward one another into the position for pushing into the pockets (32, 33).
