  • Patent number: 4902091
Abstract: With a light waveguide feedthrough for optoelectronic modules a light waveguide fiber (1) is guided hermetically tight and mechanically stable, in particular long-term stable, directly through a module housing wall. The light waveguide fiber (1) is compression glazed in the housing-side front portion of a relatively thick-walled metal tubule (2) without external coating (5) and affixed by adhesion in its rear portion. An application of the light waveguide feedthrough according to the invention is in optoelectronic transducer modules.

  • Patent number: 4790616
Abstract: An optical separating module is provided with both an interference beam-splitter and a filter layer whose transmission characteristics correspond to each other. Both layers are vapor deposited with the filter layer being deposited on the optical fiber end face which is subsequently to be coupled to an optoelectrical transducer forming a receiver.

  • Patent number: 4778241
Abstract: A method for the attachment and adjustment of a glass fiber end section in which a single monomode glass fiber end section--within a protective housing in the optical active direction of an opto-electronic component (3), such as a GaAs-laser (3) is precisely adjusted and attached toward the optically active area or spot (4) of the laser whereby in a first step, the end section (1) is attached to a support (2) within the protective housing by cementing or soldering and that the axis of the end section (1) is held in the active direction by the support (2) and is provisionally directed at the active spot (4), and subsequently, in a second step, the end section (1) is precisely aligned with the active area or spot (4) through deformation of the support.

  • Patent number: 4707067
Abstract: In an opto-electronic module housing for positioning an end of an optical fiber in a desired position relative to an active area of an opto-electronic component characterized by the housing including an optical fiber connector having an adjustment plane at one end and an arrangement for holding an end of an optical fiber with the axis of the fiber on an axis extending perpendicular to the adjustment plane with the end being a fixed distance from the plane, an adjustment frame being securable to the adjustment plane and an arrangement for locating an opto-electronic component or transducer relative to the frame including a plate having the component mounted thereon. The arrangement including the plate is securable to the frame and the frame and the arrangement enable adjusting the component in three spatial directions relative to the end of the fiber to obtain an optimum adjustable position.

  • Patent number: 4707066
Abstract: A glass fiber bushing is provided for a wall opening of a housing which has a light-transmitting or a light receiving component mounted therein, the component having an optically-active location to be optimally coupled to the tip of the glass fiber. At least in the region of the opening through the housing, the glass fiber is firmly surrounded by and is secured in a stiff tube which is inserted through the wall opening. An adjustment member which adjusts the glass fiber position is slipped with a tight clearance over the tube and/or over a transition piece which is secured to the tube. An end face of the adjustment member is oriented toward the exterior surface of the housing in the region surrounding the wall opening. At least close to the tip of the glass fiber, the outer diameter of the glass fiber or of a glass fiber protective layer is surrounded by the inner wall of the tube with so little play that the tube defines the position of the tip of the glass fiber.
