  • Patent number: 4797436
Abstract: The present invention relates to oligomeric tetraalkylpiperidine light stabilizers for polymers, to the preparation thereof from known polyalkyldiazaspirodecanes and epoxides, and to the use thereof for stabilizing polymers against the damaging effect of light, heat and oxygen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 1986
Date of Patent: January 10, 1989
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Josef Ertl, Helmut Korbanka
  • Patent number: 4405735
Abstract: Diazaspirodecanes of the general formulae ##STR1## are reacted with epoxides or aldehydes to give alcohols and the latter are reacted with bifunctional compounds to form oligomers or polymers which can be used as light stabilizers for synthetic polymers. The alcohols can also be obtained if epoxy compounds which are substituted by the above diazaspirodecanes are converted into their formic acid esters and the latter are saponified.

Date of Patent: September 20, 1983
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Hartmut Wiezer, Gerhard Pfahler, Helmut Korbanka
  • Patent number: 4378998
Abstract: Low-melting, easily processable and at the same time hard polar waxes are obtained by treating copolymers, which are composed of ethylene and 0.5 to 50% by weight of a monomer containing oxygen-containing groups and have melt indices (MFI 190/2) of between 0.01 and 400 g/10 minutes, in the molten state, dispersed in a dispersing agent which is inert towards oxygen, with oxygen or oxygen-containing gases. Preferably, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers are oxidized, and these oxidation products are particularly suitable as the wax component in water-based and/or organic solvent-based polishes and in pastes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 1980
Date of Patent: April 5, 1983
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 4283545
Abstract: 1,2,4-triazole is obtained by cyclization of N,N'-diformylhydrazine with ammonia in the presence of formamide. The amount of ammonia required is either formed in situ from thermally decomposable ammonium salts, or supplied by feeding in gaseous ammonia. Simultaneously, the water of reaction is constantly distilled off from the system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 22, 1980
Date of Patent: August 11, 1981
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Harald Knorr, Thomas Maier, Hilmar Mildenberger, Helmut Korbanka
  • Patent number: 4237043
Abstract: The invention provides novel organotin compounds and their preparation by reaction of organotin halides with mercaptans, thiocarboxylic acid esters, carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid partial esters. Suitable organotin halides are those obtained by reaction of Sn+HCl with an olefin which carries a carbonyl group in adjacent position to the olefinic double bond and which is substituted in addition by at least one carboxylate group not adjacent to the double bond. The novel compounds are used as starting for stabilizing halogen-containing polymers without influencing their transparency.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 1978
Date of Patent: December 2, 1980
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Helmut Korbanka, Franz Scheidl
  • Patent number: 4234471
Abstract: By reacting polyalkyl-piperidones-4 with the 0.5- to 1.1-molar amount of formaldehyde in the presence of an aliphatic monoalcohol at 50.degree. to 180.degree. C., polymers of a polymerization degree of from 2 to about 200 are obtained, which may be hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated. Especially in this form, they are suitable as light stabilizers for synthetic polymers and as intermediate products for the preparation of other stabilizers for plastic materials.

  • Patent number: 4220773
Abstract: For preparing 1-oxa-diaza-oxo-spirodecanes of the formula ##STR1## where X.noteq.Y, standing for ##STR2## either a polyalkylpiperidone-4-cyanohydrine is reacted with an aldehyde or a ketone, or a polyalkyl-piperidone-4 is reacted with an aldehyde or ketone-cyanohydrine in a liquid aliphatic carboxylic acid as solvent.
