    Abstract: A bridge crane, especially a container loading bridge, having a portal, a boom, a track system laid on the boom and crane trolleys which travel on the tracks, in which the track system comprises a working track, whose two rails have a mutual spacing corresponding to the wide spacing of the running wheels of the crane trolleys in a working position and a return track, whose rails have a mutual spacing corresponding to the narrow spacing of the running wheels of the crane trolleys in a return position is provided. Two arched pieces are arranged about the area of the ends of the boom where the working track and return track meet. The two wheel suspension mechanisms of the crane trolleys are constructed so as to rotate freely about a vertical axis. The two rotation axes of the crane trolleys are arranged with a spacing with respect to the longitudinal axis thereof corresponding to half the mutual spacing of the two rails of the return track.

    Abstract: A rotor assembly for a laboratory centrifuge includes a rotor body having a loading region encircled by an annular first bearing surface. A lid is configured to be removably secured to the rotor body so as to substantially cover the loading region. The lid includes an annular second bearing surface. Disposed between the lid and the rotor body when the two are secured together is an annular sealing element. The sealing element has a substantially U-shaped transverse cross section and includes an outward facing annular base. An annular first sealing lip projects inward from the upper end of the base and is biased in sealed engagement with the second bearing surface of the lid. An annular second sealing lip projects inward from the lower end of the base and is biased in sealed engagement with second bearing surface of the rotor body. An annular collecting groove is formed on the sealing element between the first sealing lip and the second sealing lip.

    Abstract: This invention is an improved method and apparatus for applying fluids onto a selected area of a component. The method uses a thin film or membrane formed by placing a forming tool in the fluid to be applied. A thin film or membrane is formed across the forming tool, which is analogous to a soap bubble formed across a bubble wand dipped into a soap bubble solution. The thin film is brought into contact with the area of the component to be coated thereby resulting in the transfer of the thin film onto the component and a variation of the thin fluid film or membrane forming tool that allows for a continuous feed application.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the refraction of the human eye. The retinal image of an object is imaged via a lens system into an object space and into an image plane which is conjugated with respect to the retina. The spacing of the conjugated plane is analyzed to determine the refraction of the human eye. This analysis is carried out by means of a measuring object which is moved along a plane which is defined by rays of the beam of rays which pass through image points of the retinal image of a target object, such that the beam of rays is divided into two complementing partial beams containing an unevenly divided amount of light energy. The unevenly divided light energy is used to determine the distance of said conjugated plane.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an ophthalmologic method for determining the refraction of the eye with a high time resolution. For the measurement an object is imaged onto the retina. In the light reflected by the retina the sharpness of the image of said object is determined depending upon its distance from the eye. The measurement is carried out with unvisible infrared light of a small band width. Consequently, the vision is not disturbed and the influence of the chromatic aberration of the eye is reduced. The method is not used to find the distance of the object with the best image. In contrast, two distances having the same degree of non-sharpness are determined. This procedure provides a differential signal having a good S/N-ratio for determining the refraction of the eye. The method and the apparatus are adapted for the automatic objective determination of the refraction, specifically the adjustment of the human eye to different distances depending on the time when the visual distance is changed, i.e.
