Patent number: 4463725Abstract: A fuel injection device is proposed which has a free piston hydraulically driven by a pump piston and controlling the relieving of the pump work chamber. To this end, the free piston is embodied in two parts, comprising a control piston and a relief piston displaceable relative thereto and oriented toward the pump work chamber. The two pistons enclose between them a relief chamber, which at the end of supply can be made to communicate via a relief conduit with a chamber of lower pressure. This free piston is also usable with fuel injection pumps which supply the injection quantity via a long pressure line to the injection nozzles located on the engine; however, it is particularly advantageously usable with a pump/nozzle, in which the injection pump and the injection nozzle are combined into a single component.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1982Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Helmut Laufer, Heinz Kuschmierz

Patent number: 4462361Abstract: An apparatus for generating a fuel quantity signal in an injection pump is proposed, which is provided with a pump piston deflected by a cam disk which aspirates fuel out of a fuel inlet conduit provided with a magnetic valve and expresses it into a supply line. The metered fuel quantity is obtained on the basis of a metering onset signal and an end-of-metering signal, the first being generated by a position-sensor apparatus cooperating with the pump piston and the second being derived from the voltage applied at the magnetic valve.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1982Date of Patent: July 31, 1984Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Anton Karle, Helmut Laufer

Patent number: 4426981Abstract: A fuel quantity measuring apparatus, preferably for a Diesel engine, is proposed in which the course of the fuel pressure is evaluated. A specialized pressure gradient of a first polarity marks the onset of supply or injection, and the maximum of the pressure gradient of the other polarity represents the end of injection or supply. The question of which designation prevails, whether injection onset and end or supply onset and end, is determined by the measurement location, that is, whether it is in the direction of the injection valve or in the direction of the supply element of the fuel supply pump. The injection quantity, for example, may be determined via the integral of the pressure during the metering period. It is recommended, when a piezoelectric pressure receptor is used, that a resistor-capacitor element be switched parallel thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1981Date of Patent: January 24, 1984Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Max Greiner, Helmut Laufer, Max Straubel

Patent number: 4142217Abstract: A tape recorder with a motor-containing-drive device for normal forward running (record or playback) and for fast rewinding of the recording tape, and a carrier plate on which the magnetic heads are arranged. The carrier plate is displaceable in its plane with the corresponding drive device of the tape by operating elements for setting of the operating modes "record" or "playback," whereby by the displacement of the carrier plate into its operating position, a switch, which sets the motor of the drive device in operation, is closed and by which the magnetic heads are brought into engagement on the recording tape. The operating elements for the fast rewinding are set for a displacement of the carrier plate however only over a portion of its displacement path. The switch for the motor current is coupled with the carrier plate such that it closes with the displacement of the carrier plate over this portion of its displacement path in the direction of the operating position of the carrier plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1977Date of Patent: February 27, 1979Assignee: Dual Gebruder SteidingerInventor: Helmut Laufer

Patent number: 4135216Abstract: A tape recorder in which a counter indicates the tape length traversed in the recorder. The counter may be returned to an initial position by a manually operated element. A switching unit for shutting off the drive for the tape, is coupled to the counter so that the drive for the tape is shut off when the counter has returned to its initial position. The counter, furthermore, may be set to a pre-initial position ahead of the first-mentioned initial position by an amount of tape length which corresponds at least to the length of a dead portion of the tape, on which no recording or playback is possible. The recorder is also provided for resetting the speed of the tape from normal speed for recording or playback, to fast speed in the forward and rewind directions. The shutting off of the drive may be operated so that it becomes ready to function only when the fast forward setting is made. The counter may have numbered dials mounted on a common axis and bearing the indicated numbers on their circumference.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: Dual Gebruder SteidingerInventor: Helmut Laufer

Patent number: 3970064Abstract: An rpm regulator of a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engine includes a single-arm drag lever and an intermediate lever which are bent to define a space into which a compression spring extends. The stroke of the compression spring is limited in both directions by stops defined by the intermediate lever and the drag lever, respectively. The regulator also includes a control spring arrangement which engages one end of the drag lever, a fuel quantity setting member which engages one end of the intermediate lever and controls due to its movement the quantity of fuel delivered by the fuel pump and an rpm governor which exerts an rpm defendent force against the intermediate lever in opposition to the force of the control spring arrangement. With this regulator the pump can deliver an excess fuel quantity for starting purposes and an automatically reduced normal fuel injection quantity when the rpm increases. This result is accomplished without increasing the dimensions of the fuel pump.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1975Date of Patent: July 20, 1976Assignee: Robert Bosch G.m.b.H.Inventors: Franz Eheim, Gerald Hofer, Karl Konrath, Helmut Laufer
