Abstract: A guitar string, in which an end of the string element is threaded into an enlarged end formed of metal, such enlarged end having been forced radially-inwardly all around the string element end so as to very tightly grip it. A method of making a guitar string, in which the string element end is threaded into a hole in a metal blank. Thereafter, such blank and string element are passed through an extrusion die to make such blank longer and smaller in diameter, to cause such blank to grip the end with great force.

Abstract: The pivoted bridge and string securing assembly (26) of a stringed guitar is operated to produce a vibrato sound by means of a handle (96) that is both detachable and rotatably adjustable. A hollow bolt (66) is rotatably mounted to a bridging plate (30) of the bridge assembly and provided with a controllably adjustable frictional restraint (80) against rotation. The vibrato handle has a mounting leg (100) received within the bore of the hollow bolt, is keyed (78, 102) to the bolt for frictionally restrained rotation therewith, and is detachably latched to the bolt by a latching spring (106).

Abstract: In a magnetic pickup for stringed musical instruments at least one coil is associated with each string and at least one magnet produces a magnetic field passing through the coil which is varied by the vibration of the string to induce a signal in the coil, the magnet being movable relative to the coil in such a manner that both the strength and the phase of the induced signal may be varied.
