  • Patent number: 8631908
Abstract: An elevator system and associated method includes power control for operating an elevator (2) in an emergency mode wherein the elevator (2) includes a car (4), a drive motor (10), a motor drive unit (26) which supplies power to the drive motor (10) and controls the same and an emergency power supply (42). The motor drive unit (10) has a predetermined normal operation switching frequency. In an emergency mode, power is supplied to the motor from the emergency power supply (42) while the motor drive unit is in an emergency mode. An actual emergency operation condition characteristic is determined for setting the switching frequency of the motor drive unit (46) dependent on the actual emergency operation condition characteristic.

  • Patent number: 8448751
Abstract: An elevator door system includes an elevator car having a front face defining a door opening. At least one elevator door is coupled to the front face of the elevator car for movement between an open position exposing the door opening and a closed position covering the door opening. At least one drive motor is mounted on the front face of the elevator car and is disposed between a lower edge and an upper edge of the elevator car. The drive motor is drivingly coupled to the elevator door for moving the elevator door between the open and the closed positions.

  • Patent number: 6269910
Abstract: An elevator rescue system includes a power source of back-up electrical power. A manually-operated, rescue enable switch switchably permits the transmission of electrical power from the power source to a motor brake coil of an elevator car during a rescue operation such that the energized coil releases the motor brake to move the car to a desired landing. A speed detector measures the speed of the elevator car and thereupon generates a speed control signal corresponding to the speed of the car. An overspeed detection circuit has a first input for being actuated when receiving electrical power from the power source, a second input for receiving the speed control signal, and an output for transmitting electrical power to the motor brake coil when the speed control signal is below a predetermined value and for automatically stopping the transmission of electrical power when the speed control signal becomes higher than a predetermined value. A manually-operated brake release switch has an input and an output.

  • Patent number: 6186281
Abstract: An elevator overspeed system designed to work as a governor includes a first switch responsive to an overspeed condition and a second, remotely located switch responsive to said first switch. An overspeed elevator control procedure is initiated when one of the first or second switches are tripped. The first switch is automatically re-set after the second switch is tripped. The second switch is manually re-set to re-start the elevator system in normal operation mode.
