  • Patent number: 7448469
Abstract: The invention relates to a silencer comprising an inner component and an outer component surrounding said inner component, said inner component defining an inner wall provided with openings and said outer component defining an outer wall extending along said inner wall. For improving the silencing characteristics as well as the flexibility of the silencer, the outer wall is implemented as a bellows which defines together with the inner wall individual cavities, the openings of the inner wall opening into said cavities. Furthermore, the outer wall is produced from a material having a density of at least 1.5 g/cm3.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2005
Date of Patent: November 11, 2008
    Assignees: Veritas AG, Borgwarner Inc.
Inventors: Andreas Seyler, Hans-Joachim Löwe, Joachim Von Der Hagen, Helmut Stönner
  • Patent number: 7387188
Abstract: A sound absorber includes an inner component and an outer component surrounding the inner component, the inner component defining an inner wall provided with apertures, and the outer component defining an outer wall extending along the inner wall. For improving the sound-absorbing properties as well as the flexibility of the sound absorber, the outer wall is implemented as a bellows which, together with the inner wall, defines individual cavities, the apertures of the inner wall opening into the cavities.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2004
Date of Patent: June 17, 2008
    Assignees: Veritas AG, Borgwarner Inc.
Inventors: Uwe Keller, Hans-Joachim Lowe, Joachim Von Der Hagen, Dietmar Metz, Helmut Stonner

  • Patent number: 4482304
Abstract: In a compressor, in particular for exhaust gas turbochargers, the compressor housing rear wall of the compressor housing enclosing the compressor wheel is mounted on a stator housing for mounting the drive shaft. The compressor housing rear wall is divided into a central disk and at least one outer ring, at least one vibration-damping and structure-borne sound-damping separating ring surrounding the central disk peripherally connecting the two adjoining housing wall portions together. Between the separating ring and the housing wall portions one or two metal bushings are inserted in which the housing wall is held frictionally and/or in form-locking manner.
