  • Patent number: 4716261
Abstract: The overhead contact conductor of an electric railway has sections where one conductor ends and another begins. The ends of two contact conductors are fastened to a section insulator having two insulation strips between which are arranged two arc horns. The insulation strips are constructed of fiber-reinforced plastic. In order to provide increased creep resistance, the lower sides of the insulation strips are positioned above the contact conductor plane and each of the insulation strips is connected with an upright contact bar, the length of which essentially spans the gap between the arc horns. By using spacers, the contact bars are arranged on the insulation strip in such a way that the lower side of the contact bars forms a contact surface for the electric railway current collector, and not the lower side of the insulating strips.

  • Patent number: 4572929
Abstract: An assembly for the transmission of electrical energy to a vehicle comprises two current rails with respective contact surfaces inclined at an angle toward each other in a roof-like arrangement and a current collector having a sliding shoe with a pair of contact surfaces inclined toward each other at the same angle. The sliding shoe is mounted movably on the current collector by means of a ball and socket joint. The support point of the sliding shoe, i.e. the geometrical center of the support ball, is located at least approximately on an imaginary line which connects the centers of gravity of the two contact surfaces of the current rails.

  • Patent number: 4406930
Abstract: A section insulator for trolley wires of electric railways is disclosed. The ends of two trolley wires are fastened to two insulating sliding strips between which arcing horns are arranged. The insulating sliding strips comprise a fiber-reinforced plastic wherein the filament fibers of the fiber reinforcement are stacked parallel to each other and are arranged perpendicularly to the sliding surface. The arcing horns are approximately U-shaped with the legs of the U-shape forming a leading runner and an adjusting loop bridged by an approximately V-shaped cross-piece. The arcing horns are disposed with the arc guiding parts facing each other and lying above the two insulating sliding strips in their operating position. Depressions are provided in the sliding surface of the insulating sliding strips to reduce accumulation of deposits.
