  • Patent number: 4293160
Abstract: A side guard or lateral protection arrangement for motor vehicles, wherein at least one reinforcement, extending substantially in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, is arranged within each of the side doors. The reinforcements are braced in case of a force effective in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, with each end directly or indirectly against a component fixedly mounted to the vehicle or against a further reinforcement associated with an adjacent door. This bracing takes place in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The reinforcements are axially adjustable in their lengths so as to bridge a space between an end of the reinforcement means and the component fixedly mounted to the vehicle or further reinforcement, which space results from manufacturing tolerances in the construction of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4218672
Abstract: An installation in a vehicle for indicating the load distribution and for warning against overloads with load-value transmitters coordinated to the vehicle axles; in which a first load-value transmitter coordinated with a vehicle axle for respective lateral sides of the vehicle includes a load-dependent threshold switch whereby the two threshold switches connect the positive terminal of the battery by way of the ignition lock with a filter, and the filter output is connected with a switching device which turns on the load-distribution indication and/or the overload warning.

  • Patent number: 4186957
Abstract: A longitudinal bearer support for a forward longitudinal bearer supported under angular bending at the end wall of a self-supporting motor vehicle body, in which the end wall is locally bulged-out in the direction of the vehicle end within the connecting area of each forward longitudinal bearer to provide a form-rigid body; each forward longitudinal bearer receives a forking in its approach at the form-rigid body, providing four arms of which the two lower arms extend to the subfloor while the two upper arms terminate within the area of the form-rigid body.

  • Patent number: 4183574
Abstract: A forward longitudinal bearer of a motor vehicle constructed as closed, hollow bearer with an impact-near energy-absorbing part which is so composed section-wise that three series-connected zones result, of which the center zone is located within the area of aggregate support points and exceeds the two adjoining zones as regards their rigidity by the use of materials of increased strength and/or greater wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 4142753
Abstract: A vehicle bumper formed by a rearwardly opening U-shaped profile member having arranged therein reinforcements fashioned as vertically arranged ribs extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The ribs are formed of a metallic material and are individually secured with the bumper which is fashioned from sheet steel.

  • Patent number: 4085956
Abstract: A shock-absorber constructed as elastomer hollow spring which is arranged between a vehicle bumper and a fixed vehicle part and which is supported thereat under prestress; the shock absorber at its end near the vehicle includes a frame-like enclosure whose inner area abuts at the shock absorber and whose outer area abuts at the inner sides of the sections of the bumper that are directed toward the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4082338
Abstract: A shock absorber constructed as elastomer hollow spring which is arranged between a vehicle bumper and a fixed vehicle part, and which is supported under prestress at these parts; the shock absorber includes at its end near the vehicle a socket having an inner area abutting at the shock absorber and an outer area abutting at the inner sides of sections of the bumper which are directed inwardly of the vehicle; each outer area thereby includes friction structures supported under prestress at the inner sides of the bumper sections.
