  • Publication number: 20230335025
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for displaying directional visual indicators external to a wearable device for navigation. In some aspects, a wearable device may receive navigation signals while the wearable device is in a navigation mode. The navigation signals may indicate a direction of travel. The wearable device may display a first directional visual indicator corresponding to the direction of travel. The first directional visual indicator may be displayed external to the wearable device indicating the direction of travel is a first direction. The first directional visual indicator may be a directional light or a directional projection displayed external to the wearable device in the direction of travel. If the direction of travel changes from the first direction to a second direction, the wearable device may display a second directional visual indicator indicating the direction of travel is the second direction.

  • Patent number: 9955150
Abstract: A display processor of a display system may receive an image that includes a test pattern. An input checksum may be associated with the test pattern. Hardware units of the display processor may process the image. The display system may generate an output checksum based at least in part on the test pattern after processing of the image. The display system may detect a fault in the hardware units of the display processor based on determining a difference between the input checksum and the output checksum.

  • Publication number: 20160196574
Abstract: Methods and mobile devices enable adjusting an advertising rate charged to an advertiser for ad content presented by an advertising device. A presence of a mobile device in proximity to the advertising device may be detected. Information such as mobile device characteristics may be obtained from the mobile device indicative of a state of attentiveness of a user of the mobile device to the advertising device. The advertising rate charged to the advertiser for the ad content presented by the advertising device may be adjusted based on the obtained information indicative of the state of attentiveness of the user of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20150070402
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for adjusting an output color gamut of a display. The display includes a processor, a planar light guide, and light sensors disposed outside a periphery of the planar light guide. The planar light guide includes a first light-turning arrangement that redirects a portion of light received from the display toward one or more of the light sensors. Each light sensor is configured to output, to the processor, a signal representative of a characteristic of the redirected light. The first light-turning arrangement includes a first light turning element that turns ambient light toward a first light sensor, and a second light turning element that turns light received from the display toward a second, different, light sensor. The processor is configured to adjust an output color gamut of the display, responsive to respective outputs from the first light sensor and the second light sensor.

  • Publication number: 20150067017
Abstract: Methods and systems may facilitate access to media. A mobile computing device may manage media associated with links by evaluating factors that may affect battery life. The mobile computing device may obtain information about the media associated with the links, such as metadata indicating file characteristics, identifying information, and analytics. The information may be included in the media or obtained from a server. The mobile computing device may evaluate factors that affect the device's ability to receive and render the media. Such factors may include the battery charge state, signal strength, connectivity, or media characteristics (e.g., size, complexity, etc.). The mobile computing device may prioritize the links associated with the media based on the evaluation of the factors, such as by sorting the links by rank. The mobile computing device may also hide links, display warnings/indicators, display links in particular manners or formats, and automatically download the media.

  • Publication number: 20140118399
Abstract: This disclosure provides implementations of systems, devices, components, computer products, methods, and techniques for correcting or compensating for moving visual object distortions. In one aspect, a method includes combining image data from a first frame with image data from a second frame to generate a fused image frame. Additionally or alternatively, the method can include applying a shear transformation to the image data in the first frame to generate a sheared image frame. One of, or a combination of, the fused image frame and the sheared image frame may be displayed as a pre-distorted image frame so that, when viewed on the display, the pre-distorted image frame compensates for distortion that can otherwise be perceived by a user when viewing the displayed moving visual object.

  • Publication number: 20130100012
Abstract: A display mode, including an update rate and/or resolution of an electronic display device, is dynamically adjusted by computing a change rate metric (CRM) representative of an image change rate, and adjusting, based on the CRM, at least one of the update rate and the image resolution. The display device may be switched between at least two display modes, based on the CRM, which may be computed by comparing each pixel row in a first frame with a corresponding pixel row in a comparison frame, and determining a number of pixel rows that have changed. A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value for each pixel row may be computed, and the CRM may then be computed by determining a number of pixel rows that have a changed CRC value with respect to a corresponding pixel row of the comparison frame.
