Publication number: 20240108241Abstract: Drug delivery articles, resident articles, and retrieval systems e.g., for gram-level dosing, are generally provided. In some embodiments, the residence articles are configured for transesophageal administration, transesophageal retrieval, and/or gastric retention to/in a subject. In certain embodiments, the residence article includes dimensions configured for transesophageal administration with a gastric resident system. In some cases, the residence article may be configured to control drug release e.g., with zero-order drug kinetics with no potential for burst release for weeks to months. In some embodiments, the residence articles described herein comprise biocompatible materials and/or are safe for gastric retention. In certain embodiments, the residence article includes dimensions configured for transesophageal retrieval. In some cases, the residence articles described herein may comprise relatively large doses of drug (e.g., greater than or equal to 1 gram).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicants: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc., The General Hospital CorporationInventors: Robert S. Publication number: 20220142566Abstract: Articles, systems, and methods for rapid administration and active pharmaceutical compositions to subjects exposed to radiation and/or toxins are provided by this disclosure. There are currently few interventional technologies to protect against long-term morbidity and mortality from exposure to radiation and chemical warfare. Furthermore, as commercially available technologies such as additive manufacturing and small-scale chemical reactors have become more prevalent, the risk of misuse of such technologies by terrorists and rogue nation states to manufacture nuclear, radiologic, and chemical weapons continues to increase. Articles, systems, and methods described herein combine sensing technologies with drug release components, in order to provide an approach for rapid diagnosis of and response to exposure to radiation and toxic agents.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2021Publication date: May 12, 2022Applicant: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Hen-Wei Huang, James Byrne, Carlo Giovanni Traverso

Publication number: 20140339060Abstract: A push-on-push-off bistable switch is disclosed. The push-on-push-off bistable switch includes an actuator, a lever mechanism connected to the actuator and having a long portion and a short portion, a bistable switch mechanism connected to the short portion, and a displacement amplifier mechanism connected to the long portion, wherein the bistable switch mechanism and the displacement amplifier mechanism are substantially parallel to each other, and the displacement amplifier mechanism has a driving portion and is adjacent to a driven portion of the bistable switch mechanism. The switch of the invention requires only one single actuator and thus can reduce the size of components, increase good throughput, simplify operational complexity and achieve the push-on-push-off switch effect. In addition, the displacement amplifier mechanism and the lever mechanism can magnify efficacy of the actuator to increase the energy saving effect.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2013Publication date: November 20, 2014Applicant: NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITYInventors: Yao-Joe Yang, Hen-Wei Huang
