Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for providing an aluminium article with a copper coating, comprising a first step of anodizing said aluminium article to produce an anodic oxide layer on the surface thereof; and a second step of colouring the anodized aluminium surface in an electrolytic bath containing a copper salt by subjecting the aluminium surface to an asymmetrical voltage controlled alternating block current having a positive phase and a negative phase, such that a metallic copper coloured coating is formed. The invention also relates to aluminium articles, provided with a copper coating, obtainable by said process.
