  • Publication number: 20140023797
Abstract: A method for coating a moving steel strip with a metal or metal alloy coating, wherein the steel strip runs through a bath of molten metal or metal alloy to coat the steel strip, and the coated steel strip is wiped to control the thickness of the coating using foils or sheets. The bath of molten metal has a volume at most 10,000 times the volume V of the coating on the steel strip per second, volume V in m3 being given by the formula V=2×d×w×s, wherein d=the thickness of the coating in meters, w=the width of the strip in meters, and s=the velocity of the strip in meters per second.

  • Patent number: 8465806
Abstract: A method for hot dip galvanizing of advanced high strength or ultra high strength steel strip material, such as dual phase steel, transformation induced plasticity steel, transformation induced plasticity assisted dual phase steel and twinning induced plasticity steel strip material. The strip material is pickled and thereafter heated to a temperature below the continuous annealing temperature before the strip material is hot dip galvanized.

  • Patent number: 6841252
Abstract: The invention relates to a laminate, comprising a plastic layer which contains a thermoplastic, which plastic layer is joined at least on one side to a substantially parallel metal skin. The invention also relates to a metal-plastic-metal laminate of this type. According to the invention, the core layer includes, in addition to the thermoplastic, a solvent and a hardener, the thermoplastic being dissolved in the solvent to make the thermoplastic processible, during production of the laminate, at a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic, and the hardener being capable of reaction with the solvent, or the core layer includes polymer particles dispersed in the thermoplastic, which polymer particles are formed from a solvent and a hardener capable of reaction with the solvent. In this way, the core layer becomes easier to work during the production of the laminate, while the laminate itself, after cold-working, is dimensionally stable at elevated temperature.

  • Patent number: 6766678
Abstract: Process for deforming a piece of thin-walled metal tube, comprising the operations of bending the piece of tube with respect to its original axis, in which process the wall of the piece of tube is firstly provided, at least at the location where the bend is intended to be, with a deformation which extends substantially in the longitudinal direction of the piece of tube, and in which process wall material is moved closer to the neutral plane of bending, and the piece of tube is then bent, after which the ultimate shape of the piece of tube which is to be deformed is imposed by hydroforming.
