  • Patent number: 11970594
Abstract: Polybutylene terephthalate can be used as a gas diffusion barrier for closed-cell rigid polyurethane foams. A thermal insulation element containing a closed-cell, rigid polyurethane foam, which is at least partially covered by a layer system containing at least one layer formed by a polybutylene terephthalate composition, is useful. Articles and devices may contain a corresponding thermal insulation structure, such as refrigerators, insulation panels, pipe insulations, water heaters, and thermally insulated transport boxes.

  • Patent number: 11162977
Abstract: Techniques for operating an atomic force microscope, the atomic force microscope comprising a cantilever and configured to image a surface of a sample using a probe tip coupled to the cantilever, the techniques comprising using a controller to perform: obtaining, based on at least one intrinsic parameter of the cantilever, a first quality factor and a first free oscillation amplitude, wherein the cantilever exhibits only one stable oscillation state when oscillating at the first free oscillation amplitude and operating at the first quality factor; and controlling the cantilever to exhibit the only one stable oscillation state by controlling the cantilever to oscillate at a fixed frequency at or near a resonance frequency of the cantilever, oscillate at the first free oscillation amplitude, and operate at the first quality factor.

  • Publication number: 20170348614
Abstract: A molded body includes a shape memory material. The molded body has a three-dimensional surface structure which, in a permanent shape, at least in part has a superhydrophobic surface and/or a hydrophobic surface, on which water droplet contact angles of 120° to 150° are found.

  • Patent number: 9738029
Abstract: A method for producing a molded body includes providing a composite including a first plate having a polymer film pressed into its surface, providing a third plate including roughened areas on at least part of one of its surfaces, placing the third plate opposite the polymer film without the third plate touching the composite, heating the third plate to a temperature above the glass transition temperature Tg of the polymer of the polymer film without heating the composite and without the heated third plate coming into contact with the surface of the polymer film, and structuring the surface of the polymer film facing the third plate by a relative movement which removes the third plate from the first plate while the polymer film remains soft and is thus extended lengthwise, thereby forming a modified composite that comprises the molded body.
