Abstract: An IP-based PBX system and a connecting method thereof. The IP-based PBX system includes an IP-based PBX host and at least an IP-based PBX extension. The IP-based PBX host is used for serving IP-based PBX extensions, and includes a routing module for connecting the IP-based PBX host to the Internet through a plurality of Internet connections with a plurality of corresponding IP addresses. Each IP-based PBX extension selects a first IP address from the IP addresses for connecting the IP-based PBX host, and comprises a storage unit for recording the IP addresses.

Abstract: A method of routing data between IP-based telephone extensions in a telecommunications network. A remote host connected to a first remote telephone group connects with a main host through the Internet. A source IP-based telephone in the first remote telephone group generates data packets with for contacting a destination IP-based telephone in the second remote telephone group and transmits the data packets to the remote host. The remote host transmits the data packets to the main host, and the main host transmits the data packets to the destination IP-based telephone in the second remote telephone group for establishing communication between the source IP-based telephone in the first remote telephone group and the destination IP-based telephone in the second remote telephone group.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus of maintaining a private branch exchange (PBX) system. The PBX system has a first top-level host used for serving a plurality of IP-based PBX extensions. The method includes utilizing a first medium-level host for checking if the first top-level host is capable of serving the IP-based PBX extensions, and utilizing the first medium-level host for functioning as a second top-level host to substitute for the first top-level host if the first top-level host is unable to serve the IP-based PBX extensions.

Abstract: A network system and a connecting method thereof. The network system includes a first network device having a first MAC address, a second network device having a second MAC address, a first IP-based device having a first IP address for transmitting the data to the first network device through the first MAC address, a second IP-based device having a second IP address for receiving the data outputted from the second network device through the second MAC address, and a host having a predetermined IP address and being connected to the first IP-based device and the second IP-based device through the predetermined IP address, the first IP address, and the second IP address. The host has a look-up table for recording the first MAC address mapping to the first IP address, wherein the second IP-based device checks the look-up table for directing the data to the first IP-based device.

Abstract: A method for updating software in a plurality of clients connected to a host through a network includes connecting an updating device to the host, the updating device storing updated software to be used for updating software stored in the clients. Next, communication is initiated between the updating device and the host, and the updating device transmits the updated software to the host. The host then uploads the updated software to each of the clients for replacing previous versions of software stored in the clients with the updated software.

Abstract: A telephone apparatus for use in conjunction with a computing device. The computing device executes a telephone software application for making telephone calls over the Internet. The telephone apparatus includes an interface for receiving downstream audio packages from the computing device and for sending upstream audio packages to the computing device, and a voice compression/decompression circuit for decompressing the downstream audio packages received through the interface and for compressing upstream audio packages sent to the interface according to a predetermined voice compression protocol. An audio codec converts the decompressed downstream audio packages received from the voice compression/decompression circuit into downstream analog signals, and converts upstream analog signals into upstream audio packages sent to the voice compression/decompression circuit. An analog audio interface outputs the downstream analog signals and receives upstream analog signals.

Abstract: A method for sending a paging announcement to all telephones in a roaming telephone network. The roaming telephone network includes first and second local telephone groups each containing a plurality of telephones. The first and second local telephone groups are connected to the Internet through first and second dynamic IP addresses, respectively. A main host is connected to the Internet through a static IP address, and the main host controls voice packet traffic over the Internet between the first and second local telephone groups. The method includes using one telephone in the roaming telephone network to make a paging announcement, transmitting the paging announcement from the paging telephone to the main host, and transmitting the paging announcement from the main host to the first and second local telephone groups for broadcasting the paging announcement to the roaming telephone network.

Abstract: A method for IP address allocation of an IP-based extension includes connecting the IP-based extension to a network private branch exchange (NPBX) host and the NPBX host allocating an IP address to the IP-based extension only when the IP-based extension is connected to the NPBX host. Two connecting ways for the IP-based extension connecting to the NPBX host are through a network cable and through the Internet. Through the network cable, the IP-based extension directly downloads/uploads information from/to the NPBX host. Through the Internet, the IP-based extension keys in the static IP address of the NPBX host, selects a security level, and keys in a password to download/upload information from/to the NPBX host.

Abstract: A LAN-to-LAN VoIP system and related user interface. The VoIP system comprises a first LAN and a second LAN. The first LAN comprises a first local telephone system, a first communication module, a first IP-based extension, and a first host. The second LAN comprises a second local telephone system, a second communication module, a second IP-based extension, and a second host. Each communication module connects each local telephone systems to the Internet through a respective dynamic IP address, each IP-based extension is connected to the Internet through another dynamic IP address, and each host is connected to the Internet through a respective static IP address. Each IP-based extension can dial to the local telephone system directly in the same LAN or dial to the host followed by the local telephone systems across LAN.

Abstract: A roaming local area network (LAN) includes a first Internet Protocol (IP) sharing device for sharing connection to a first dynamic IP address, a first group of network devices connected to the first IP sharing device, a second IP sharing device for sharing connection to a second dynamic IP address, and a second group of network devices connected to the second IP sharing device, wherein each network device in the first and second groups of network devices has a unique virtual IP address. A host is connected to the Internet through a static IP address, and the host controls data traffic between the first group of network devices and the second group of network devices.

Abstract: A roaming communication system includes a first local telephone system, a first communication module connected to the first local telephone system and connected to the Internet through a first dynamic IP address, a second local telephone system, and a second communication module connected to the second local telephone system and connected to the Internet through a second dynamic IP address. The first and second communication modules are each capable of converting voice signals respectively received from the first and second local telephone systems to voice packets for transmission over the Internet and are capable of restoring voice packets received through the Internet into voice signals. The roaming communication system also includes a host connected to the Internet through a static IP address. The host is used to control voice packet traffic between the first communication module and the second communication module.

Abstract: An establishing virtual intranet based on a digital closed network constructed from a network PBX and a plurality of extensions, wherein the network PBX stores extension numbers, virtual IP address and a published IP address. Each extension will obtain an own extension number, virtual IP address and published IP address when the extension is connected to the network PBX. The extension registered to the network PBX is able to link to the network PBX when the registered extension is connected to Internet and uses the published IP address as a destination IP address. Therefore, the distant registered extension and the network PBX connected with multiple extensions construct a virtual Intranet over the Internet.

Abstract: A wireless digital Key Telephone System (KTS) includes at least one extension. The extension contains an audio processing circuit that is electrically connected to a central processing circuit, a speaker, and a microphone. The audio processing circuit is responsible for transmitting audio signals outputted from the central processing circuit to the speaker, and transmitting audio signals received by the microphone to the central processing circuit. The extension also contains a network controller, which is electrically connected to the central processing circuit and to a network port. The network controller is responsible for the transmission of network signals between the central processing circuit and the network port.

Abstract: A modular switch system linking on a high-speed serial bus mainly relies on a host machine connector (10) to connect with independent functional modules (20) which provides different functions of a PBX switch module processor such as internal line exchange, external line exchange, voice recording and backbone support. Under such conditions, each functional module (20) becomes a node in a local network, so that these nodes can be interconnected with each other for simultaneous signal transmission. Each functional module (20) possesses a card slot (21), an interface controller (23), a microprocessor (22), and a power supply (24). In the closed network architecture, the data transfer rate and the processing speed of the system can be substantially improved. Furthermore, the system also allows for hot plug-in, expandability, and flexible configuration.

Abstract: A control system uses a console to control a plurality of computer systems. Each computer system includes an adapter electrically connected to a computer for sending signals to and receiving signals from the computer, the adapter including a first transceiver for wirelessly sending status signals and for wirelessly receiving control signals. The control system also includes the console, including a controller for controlling communications between the console and the computer system. The controller contains a second transceiver for wirelessly sending the control signals to the first transceiver of the adapter and for wirelessly receiving the status signals sent from the first transceiver of the adapter. The console also contains input devices connected to the controller for inputting the control signals to the controller, and at least one output device connected to the controller for outputting the status signals received by the second transceiver of the controller.

Abstract: A digital closed network is constructed from a telephone exchange (10) and a plurality of telephones (20), wherein each telephone (20) is further for connection to a network device (30), such as a computer, hub, network printer etc. Over the closed network, data and video information are transmitted in the form of packets. Moreover, communicating voice signals are converted to the form of voice packets by the telephones (20), whereby the superior transmission quality is obtained. Furthermore, the transmission priority among the voice, data and video packets is controllable in the closed network, thus when there is a great quantity of packets being transmitted, the voice packets still possess high real time transmissions.

Abstract: A method for establishing a P2P Internet connection or P2MP Internet connections is applied to an IP server having multiple user's IP addresses and the network users data. Users can provide their IP address to the IP server, and the IP server provides a search IP address capability to the users to quickly locate an IP address or IP addresses. When the users obtain the IP addresses, the users can immediately establish a connection with the IP address owner. Therefore, the user can quickly and successfully establish P2P or P2MP connection(s) with distant user(s) without using a broadcast protocol.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for digital signal communication between equalizer and surround sound systems is disclosed. The method involves converting analog audio signals output on multiple audio channels from the front-end equalizer to digital voice packets, passing them onto a signal transmission medium, and restoring the received digital voice packets back to the original analog audio signals by the rear-end broadcasting equipment. The signal transmission medium is connected to multiple speakers, such that digital voice packets received by each speaker respective to a particular audio channel are restored by a D/A converter to analog audio signals and then amplified. The restored analog audio signals are then output through a speaker connected by the signal transmission medium. Such signal transmission means may avoid the usual high RLC value on the transmissio n line related with conventional audio cables causing power attenuation and degradation of sound reproduction.

Abstract: A computer I/O switching means interfacing between multiple I/O devices and host computers under a network structure, comprising a central switch, multiple bridges, which are to be linked to multiple sets of host computer through network cables, and a network interface. The central switch is set up with multiple I/O interfaces for keyboard, video display and mouse, and multiple bridges are each electronically connected to the respective computers in the centralized computer facility. The central switch also provides a menu-based control program, which allows users to lock in a specific host computer for input/output operation through the corresponding bridge. The switching means employing networking technology helps cut down related cabling costs considerably, and simplify the equipment configuration.
