  • Patent number: 10766703
Abstract: Conveyor belts having an outer cover layer, an opposing inner cover layer, and a carcass disposed between the outer and inner cover layers. The outer cover layer includes a sulfur cured rubber formulation formed from a blend including from about 20 phr to about 40 phr of an EPDM elastomer, from about 1 phr to about 40 phr of a polybutadiene rubber, and from about 30 phr to about 80 phr of a natural rubber. The sulfur cured rubber formulation may include a sulfur curative in an amount of from about 1.0 phr to about 4.0 phr. The sulfur cured rubber formulation may exhibits no cracking under dynamic ozone testing conditions of 50 pphm ozone, 25% strain, and 40 deg C., at 168 hours, in accordance with ASTM D1149, and may have a rolling resistance factor value of from 0.05 to 0.06 at a temperature of 25 deg C.

  • Patent number: 10364100
Abstract: Heavy duty conveyor belts (1) having excellent resistance to high temperatures. These conveyor belts (1) can be repeatedly exposed to temperatures of greater than 200° C. or even 250° C. without compromising the strength or reliability of the belt while providing a greatly extended service life. The conveyor belts (1) may also be manufactured in a commercially viable and cost effective manner. The conveyor belts (1) generally include a reinforcement layer (3), a carry cover layer (2) disposed above the reinforcement layer (3), a pulley cover layer (4) disposed beneath the reinforcement layer (3), and the carry cover layer (2) is comprised of a fluoroelastomer. In some aspects, the conveyor belts (1) have a carry cover layer (2) which includes an outer surface layer (6) containing a fluoroelastomer and an inner layer (7) based upon an EPM elastomer or an EPDM elastomer.

  • Publication number: 20150217940
Abstract: The present invention is based upon the discovery that neodymium polybutadiene rubber can be built onto heavy duty conveyor belts as a carry cover layer to greatly improve the wear resistance of the belt. Such heavy duty conveyor belts are of particular value for utilization in the mining of iron ore, copper ore, coal, and other abrasive materials. These belts accordingly offer a longer service life, reduce mine down-time, reduce costs, and improve overall mine productivity without having an adverse effect on worker health or safety, and without detrimentally impacting the environment. The present invention more specifically discloses a conveyor belt which is comprised of a carry cover layer, a reinforcement layer which is situated below the carry cover layer, and a pulley cover layer which is situated below the reinforcement layer, wherein the carry cover layer is comprised of neodymium polybutadiene rubber.
