  • Publication number: 20070182319
Abstract: A light emitting device with optical enhancement structure. The light emitting device includes a light emitting element and an optical enhancement structure. Some of the light from the light emitting element is emitted in a diverging manner. The optical enhancement structure is optically coupled to the light emitting element, said optical enhancement structure having a light emerging surface that includes a central surface that is orthogonal to the normal and corner surfaces having profiles that are not orthogonal to the normal. The optical enhancement structure is a single structure for changing the normal angle of the first light emerging surface to increase light output efficiency. The optical enhancement structure have an optical characteristic that directs diverging light from the light emitting element along a path within the optical enhancement structure in a direction towards a normal of the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20040081852
Abstract: A hygroscopic passivation structure covering a display region of an organic electroluminescent display (OELD) includes at least one buffer layer, a hygroscopic material layer, and a passivation layer. The hygroscopic material is used to adsorb moisture that is generated internally from the OELD and is penetrated through the outer passivation layer.

  • Publication number: 20030127972
Abstract: A dual-panel active matrix organic electroluminescent display comprises an organic electroluminescent display panel, an active matrix panel, and a conducting and adhesive material between these two panels. The organic electroluminescent display panel and the active matrix panel are fabricated separately and then adhered and bonded together. Therefore, the layout portion of a polycrystalline-silicon TFT can be increased. If a heat and pressure adhering method is used to bond the two panels, a transparent light-conducting region is not required for the pixels on the active matrix panel. If a UV light exposure adhering method is used, only a small transparent region is reserved for UV light curing. As a result, the lighting area of the organic electroluminescent display is almost 100%.

  • Patent number: 6383048
Abstract: Disclosed is a novel packaging method for organic polymer EL displays characterized by passivating the organic polymer EL display with a heat-dissipating layer by sputtering deposition. By using this heat-dissipating layer, the heat generated by the EL display can be dissipated. In addition, this passivating and heat-dissipating layer can prevent the cathode and the polymer luminant layer from reacting to the oxygen and moisture in the air, thereby the degradation of the polymer EL display can be eliminated. Moreover, a packaging shell with grids set inside or covering layer consisting of material with high thermal conductivity is formed on the top of the heat-dissipating layer to consolidate the structure of the heat-dissipating mechanism and enhance the effect of heat-dissipation.

  • Patent number: 6103541
Abstract: An encapsulation method of organic electroluminscence device is provided. An organic electroluminescent device is formed on an indium-tin-oxide glass substrate. A metal electrode is formed on the organic electroluminescent device. The organic electroluminescent device is encapsulated by a nitride layer or a carbide layer formed by using segmental sputtering at a low temperature. The substrate is soldered on a metal plate and covered by a metal cap.

  • Patent number: 6037190
Abstract: A method for fabricating a full-color organic electro-luminescent device starts with forming an indium tin oxide (ITO) layer on a glass substrate, and then forming a blue-light emitting layer on the ITO layer. By irradiating predetermined portions of the blue-light emitting layer with certain light sources, pixels that emit different light colors are formed on the irradiated portions of the blue-light emitting layer. An electrode layer is then formed on the corresponding pixels, wherein the electrode layer is further covered by a protection layer. During the operation of the full-color OEL device of the invention, a driving voltage is applied on the ITO layer, the anode, and the electrode layer, the cathode.
