In one embodiment, a system is provided for controlling at least one of the position and orientation of a blind. The system includes a controller for operating a blind, at least one detector operably connected to the controller for simultaneously detecting position and orientation of at least one element of the blind, and at least one output device operably connected to the controller for controlling at least one of the orientation and position of the blind. The embodiments may also include or utilize at least one of a receiver program module, a device controller module, a timer program module and a system controller module which are utilized by a controller to control the operation of the blind.
