  • Patent number: 4850411
Abstract: A vehicle wheel for pneumatic tires. The rim of the wheel has radially inwardly extending rim flanges, and adjacent thereto, along the inner periphery, has seats inclined in cross section for a belted tire, and adjacent thereto, has recessed portions. The recessed portions adjoining the seats extend at least partially inclined in cross section. The angle of inclination of the recessed portions with respect to the axial direction is equal to or greater than the corresponding inclination angle of the seats. The recessed portions, in the axial direction, have a dimension which is equal to or greater than that of the axial segments of the seats.

  • Patent number: 4577668
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a one-piece rim and being provided for a pneumatic belted tire. The seats for the tire beads are located on the radially inner surface of the rim. In order to assure trouble-free emergency operation of the tire in the event of damage or a defect, on the rim and/or on the tire, structures are provided which, at least in the region of the support surface of the tire, effect a disengagement of the tire beads from the rim seats during a loss of air pressure, and which prevent an only periodic return of the tire beads to the seats while driving.

  • Patent number: 4481991
Abstract: A tread configuration for motor vehicle tires, especially spare tires, with several peripheral rows of essentially V-shaped blocks, with the points of successive blocks, as seen in the peripheral direction of the tire, alternately pointing in opposite directions transverse to the circumferential or peripheral direction of the tire. Three rows of blocks are provided, and are separated from each other by linearly extending peripheral grooves. The width of the two outer rows correspond essentially to the axial dimension of a block; in the middle row, the successive blocks are laterally displaced or offset with respect to each other in such a way that the width of this middle row is approximately 1.3 to 1.8 times the axial dimension of a block individually.

  • Patent number: 4471825
Abstract: A tread structure for pneumatic tires, especially for motor vehicles, having two circumferential ribs which include essentially rectangular blocks; these blocks are arranged sequentially one after the other in the circumferential direction of the tire, and are separated from each other by S-shaped fine slits. Several circumferential main grooves extend in a zig-zag manner in such a way as to form angles of 90.degree.. Respective separating grooves separate the tread from the sidewalls of the tire. Three main grooves are provided which enclose the two circumferential ribs of essentially rectangular blocks. The central main groove is located in the zenith portion of the tire; the outer main grooves are respectively connected with the adjacent separating grooves by transverse grooves which are disposed at a slight incline to the transverse direction. The tread profile depth is at most 5 mm.

  • Patent number: 4437503
Abstract: A tread configuration for pneumatic vehicle tires, especially for spare tires. A number of recesses are arranged in succession and next to each other in the circumferential direction of the tire. Transverse ribs and substantially circumferential ribs separate the recesses from one another and have a width which is approximately 1/4 to 3/4 of the circumferential dimension of the recesses. The radially outwardly located peripheral surface of the tire is subdivided into several segments. Within each of the segments, the circumferential dimension of the recesses and of the transverse ribs is constant, and the circumferential dimension of the recesses and of the transverse ribs is different in successive segments. The recesses are of such a cross-sectional shape or outline that at least one boundary line thereof is formed by an edge of a transverse rib. At least some of the circumferential ribs extend at an angle to the circumferential direction of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4424846
Abstract: A tread configuration for pneumatic vehicle tires, especially for spare tires. A number of rectangular depressions are arranged in succession and next to each other in the circumferential direction of the tire. Transverse ribs and circumferential ribs separate the depressions from one another and have a width which is approximately 1/4 to 3/4 of the circumferential dimension of the depressions. The radially outwardly located peripheral surface of the tire is subdivided into several segments. The circumferential dimension of the depressions and of the transverse ribs is constant within each of the segments, and the circumferential dimension of the depressions and of the transverse ribs is different in successive segments.

  • Patent number: 4408647
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a rigid wheel rim upon which a pneumatic belted tire is mounted. The beads of the tire contain pull-resistant cores, and are secured by a wheel flange against sliding laterally from the seating surfaces. A recess for receiving a tire bead during mounting of the tire is located adjacent to the seating surface on that side facing the rim middle. The seating surfaces are arranged on the inner periphery of the rim adjacent to a radially inwardly extending wheel flange. The base of the recess has a larger diameter than do the seating surfaces. The mantle surfaces of the rim adjacent to the recess are essentially even or smooth supporting surfaces for the tire zenith or crown portion during emergency operation of the tire. The middle portion of the rim, between the mantle surfaces, is also embodied at least partially as a supporting surface for the tire zenith portion during emergency operation of the tire, and the supporting surface lies essentially at the level of the mantle surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4337813
Abstract: A tread configuration for pneumatic vehicle tires, particularly for spare tires, having a large number of depressions which are separated from each other by transverse webs and peripheral webs, and are successively arranged in the transverse and the peripheral directions of the tire. The depressions have an approximately rectangular cross section, and extend transverse to the peripheral direction of the tire. The webs which limit or define the depressions have a width corresponding to approximately 1/4 to 3/4 of the peripheral dimension of the depressions.
