  • Patent number: 9458820
Abstract: A wind turbine and to a method for installing a generator for a wind turbine, in which a nacelle and a mainframe for installation of, e.g., a generator and a main shaft, is installed on top of a tower. The nacelle further has a nacelle cover extending over the main frame from the hub and to a rear end, covering components installed on the main frame. The nacelle cover has at least a first part and a second part, the first part having a interface for engagement with a corresponding interface on the second part, the second part of the nacelle cover housing a generator as one unit. By having the generator and the second part of the nacelle cover as a single unit, installation can be performed in one go and then only one hoist with a crane is needed.

  • Patent number: 9127650
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tower assembly system, a method of assembling a wind turbine tower and a wind turbine thereof. Three or more guidance devices may be mounted to a mounting flange in the upper end of a lower tower section and/or in the lower end of an upper tower section. The guidance device comprises a contact surface for contacting a mating contact surface on the opposite tower section. The guidance device comprises a mounting flange for mounting the device to the mounting flange of the tower section using fastening means. This allows the guidance devices to catch and guide the free hanging tower section into the correct position on the stationary tower section. This enables the assembly time to be reduced with up to 50% compared with the present assembly methods. The guidance devices allow the workers to guide the free hanging tower section into position from the ground.

  • Patent number: 8851859
Abstract: A nacelle stand and a method for building and testing a nacelle for a wind turbine using a nacelle stand, the nacelle stand being suitable for supporting a nacelle for a wind turbine, during manufacturing and assembly of the nacelle, testing and transport. The nacelle stand has a connecting arrangement for rigid connection to a yaw system arranged at the main frame of the nacelle, a midsection, a horizontal bedplate and a center part with a number of fingers extending away from the center part in a horizontal plane, the fingers each having an angle larger than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees relative to a longitudinal axis of the stand.

  • Publication number: 20140286778
Abstract: A wind turbine having a wind turbine tower with a nacelle provided on the top to which a rotor hub with one or more wind turbine blades is rotatable mounted. A cable twisting system is arranged inside the wind turbine tower and suspended from the bottom of the nacelle. The cable twisting system comprises a number of cable spacing plates having a number of guiding means for guiding the electrical cables from the nacelle to the bottom of the wind turbine tower. A first and second element having engaging fingers configured to be brought into contact with each other are coupled to two adjacent cable spacing plates. The first element rotates relative to the second element when the nacelle is yawing, bringing the fingers into contact with each other. The two elements then rotate together as the nacelle continues to yaw in the same direction.
