  • Patent number: 6612831
Abstract: Gas lighter having a safety mechanism. The lighter includes a lighter body housing a tank of liquefied gas under pressure. A valve allows passage of gas. A burner is connected to the valve. A push-button is disposed on the body and is adapted to be pressed by a user's finger. A lever is used for acting on the valve. The lever is adapted to cooperate with the push-button. A wheel is used for engaging a flint. The wheel includes at least one driver. A spring is arranged below the flint for biasing the flint against the wheel. An axle is used upon which the wheel is rotatably mounted. A mechanism is used for preventing the rotation of the wheel. The mechanism is adapted to engage at least one tooth on the at least one driver so as to prevent the rotation of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 5558514
Abstract: A safety device comprising a locking mechanism for a gas lighter. A latch is fixed beneath the pushbutton and it comprises an upside-down U-shaped resilient portion occupying a vertical plane. The bottom end of the U-Shape is closed by an arm carrying retractable stops. In the locked position, the stops prevent the pushbutton from moving downwards and consequently prevent gas escaping from the lighter. The invention applies to increasing safety, particularly when children are concerned.

  • Patent number: 5472338
Abstract: A safety lighter having a body, a value for releasing gas, an ignitor, and a locking mechanism. According to the invention, a resilient "U"-shaped spring is closed at its upper portion by an arm carrying retractable stops, the stops preventing, in the locked position, the descent of the thumb-piece and therefore the igniting of the cigarette lighter. The safety device of the present invention allows an increase in safety, particularly where children are concerned.
