  • Patent number: 11036326
Abstract: A touch-screen device, a touch-screen stylus, and a method to provide haptic feedback to a user of a touch-screen device. The method comprises steps of recognizing the relative position of the tip of a touch-screen stylus relative to a sensory surface of the touch-screen device; asserting a haptic-force signal that varies in response to the relative position; and passing a controlled, variable electric current through an electromagnetic circuit to exert a magnetic force between the touch-screen device and the touch-screen stylus, wherein the electric current is varied in dependence on the haptic-force signal.

  • Publication number: 20210004071
Abstract: An electronic device for optical charging of accessory devices includes a display having a backlight, a control module, a processor, and a hardware storage device. The control module is in data communication with the display and the backlight and configured to control a wavelength and a luminance of the display. The processor is in data communication with the control module. The hardware storage device is in data communication with the processor. The hardware storage device has instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to detect an optically-chargeable accessory device in a location proximate to a portion of the display, identify a charging portion of the display based on the location of the accessory device, and adjust the display to provide output light from the charging portion independently of a remaining portion of the display so as to charge the accessory device.

  • Patent number: 9720546
Abstract: A force sensitive surface measures force or pressure applied to the surface. The surface may also detect the touch position. The force sensing surface is calibrated with a stylus having a force measuring element. The stylus measures the force information from force applied on the surface and sends the information to the device with the force sensing surface. The device detects the same force and calibrates the force sensing element according to the information received from the stylus. The device may also detect the position of the touch. As the force information obtained from different portions of the surface may be different, the calibration may be repeated for multiple positions on the force and touch sensitive surface. The calibration may also be used to calibrate a position sensing feature on a force sensing surface having multiple force sensors.
