  • Patent number: 5393568
Abstract: A cold process for laying a textured or polished coat of bronze, copper, brass, pewter or other metallic substance over a mineral or organic surface comprises the step of mixing a sintering metal powder with a polyester resin and a ketonic catalyst for forming a spreadable, moldable or sprayable paste that hardens to a coat having essentially the mechanical and chemical characteristics of the selected metallic substance, but exhibiting no electrical conductivity.

  • Patent number: 4562842
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously monitoring the loss of blood suffered by a patient in the course of a surgical operation. The apparatus provides a means for sucking the combination of blood and irrigating solution gathered about the incision, and for sequentially measuring the volumes and densities of small samplings of the solution-and-blood mixture being drawn through the conduit leading from the incision area to the suction device. The apparatus relies on the difference between the respective densities of the blood and of the irrigating solution in order to calculate the exact volume of blood contained in each sampling. The blood loss is continuously accumulated and displayed on a visual read-out, so that a corresponding amount of blood can be transfused to the patient in order to maintain his blood pressure throughout the operation.

  • Patent number: 4359631
Abstract: A self service terminal for dispensing voice and video information, printed documents, and goods; and for accepting service orders and payments therefor by currency or credit card. The terminal comprises a cathode ray tube display with mass storage for presenting information about the product or service sold, a keyboard for entry of customer requests, a printer for delivering coupons and tickets, a vending machine for dispensing small items, a coinbox and credit card reader for accepting payments for goods and services, and a telephone interface for communicating with the staff of a command center. The operation of the terminal is controlled by a microprocessor linked to an automated reservation system. The preferred embodiment of the invention is dedicated to the promotion and sale of travel services. The terminal is operated from three memory devices. A non-volatile memory is used to store the operating program for the terminal.

  • Patent number: 4347590
Abstract: An area surveillance system which combines an ultrasonic intrusion detector, an electronic range finder, an instant camera and an alarm. The system is packaged in a temper-proof housing and is particularly suitable for the protection of residential and commercial buildings and for providing a quick identification of intruders. The output of the range finder is used to focus the camera objective on the intruding subject. After focusing a series of pictures of the area are taken. The pictures are readily available for early identification of the intruder. By means of an interface programming device, immediate or delayed silent and/or audible alarms are triggered upon detection of the intruder.

  • Patent number: 4284985
Abstract: A method and necessary apparatus for detecting the unauthorized operation or asportation of mobile or portable equipment. The apparatus comprises a concealable transmitter designed to re-transmit a coded message received from a check station. The check station may be stationary such as at the exit gate of a garage or at a fixed checkpoint along a thoroughfare; or may be carried on a vehicle such as a police car or other type of security patrol. The concealed repeating transmitter is switched on or off by means of a pocket-sized short-range coded remote switch unit not unlike those used for the remote control of household television receivers.
