  • Patent number: 8678225
Abstract: The present invention relates to use of a composite material as a fluid barrier under cryogenic conditions, the composite material having: (a) a tensile Young's modulus of less than 50 GPa; and (b) a tensile strain at break of at least 5% at ambient conditions. The present invention further relates to a sandwich and a containment system for a cryogenic fluid comprising the composite material.

  • Publication number: 20120192984
Abstract: The invention provides an elongated conduit (2) comprising a tubular outer pipe (3), an elastic inner pipe (4) and an annulus between the outer pipe and inner pipe, the conduit being provided with a fluid supply device (7), the outer pipe being provided with inlet means (6) for introducing the fluid (9) in the annulus between the outer pipe and the inner pipe, which inlet means communicates with the fluid supply device. The invention also provides a method to remove a blockage in the inner pipe of said elongated conduit. In addition, the invention relates to a method for transporting a liquid, semi-liquid, paste-like or solid material through the inner pipe of said elongated conduit.

  • Patent number: 8029639
Abstract: A method of joining a pair of tubular ends (1, 2) comprises: providing the tubular ends with intermeshing tapered edges (3, 4); joining the tubular ends by inserting an adhesive between the tapered edges and pressing the tapered edges (3, 4) together; arranging an axial load carrier collar (5) around the joined tubular ends; inserting an adhesive between the inner surface of the collar (5) and the outer surfaces of the joined tubular ends (3, 4); and inducing the adhesive to bond the inner surface of the collar (5) to the outer surfaces of the joined tubular ends. The axial load carrier collar (5) may be equipped with a series of flexible reinforcement strips (8, 9), which carry a majority of axial loads exerted on the tubular joint, such that only a minimal axial load is exerted on the bonded tapered edges (3, 4).

  • Patent number: 5814712
Abstract: A method for making an impact modified thermoplastic resin composition includes combining an glycidyl ester impact modifier with a polycarbonate resin to form a glycidyl ester impact modifier-polycarbonate resin blend and then combining the glycidyl ester impact modifier-polycarbonate resin blend with a polyester resin to provide the impact modified thermoplastic resin composition. Articles molded from the impact modified thermoplastic resin composition made according to the method exhibit high impact resistance and improved surface appearance.
