  • Patent number: 4354188
Abstract: A number of dividers for a non-integer divisor f, notably f=N-1/2. The divider comprises a chain of dynamic bistable elements, at least one of which is activated in reaction to the positive-going signal edges, while at least one is activated in reaction to the negative-going signal edges, having completely synchronous circuits and substantially synchronous circuits; a simple implementation for dividers with an arbitrary, and very large divider.

  • Patent number: 4353062
Abstract: A modulator circuit for a matrix display device, the modulator circuit having pulse width and pulse amplitude control. The current amplitude for a selected picture element (row address-column address) varies during the pulse width of an excitation pulse in correspondence with the number of counting positions of a counting circuit used for determining the pulse width.A column conductor has an associated column excitation circuit in which a counting circuit for determining the excitation pulse width controls excitation switches which pass selectively currents from current source I.sub.A . . . 64I.sub.A of a current source circuit to the column conductor. The initial setting of the counting circuit determines the excitation pulse width, and the count positions of the counting circuit select the currents to be passed to the column conductor as the counting circuit is stepped by clock pulses to measure the duration of the excitation pulse.

  • Patent number: 4338623
Abstract: To prevent display screen burn-in of a picture having, for example, bright lines or other picture components remaining stationary for a long period of time, a video circuit is examined to detect how long the information has not been changed. If a predetermined time limit is exceeded, the picture brightness is limited to a sufficiently low average value or, if so desired, to zero brightness, by means of one or more protection switches.

  • Patent number: 4295158
Abstract: A simple and reliable digital frequency divider for non-integer rational divisors using a signal polarity switch commanded by an auxiliary counter which derives its counting pulses from a main N-position counter. For such complex divisors the generation of phase leads by toggling the signal polarity switch can be delayed or some phase leads can be suppressed by using relatively low-frequency delay pulses, to avoid large auxiliary counters. Video timing circuits are described based on digital frequency dividers of such types.
