  • Patent number: 7931843
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a polyphenylene sulfide multifilament yarn, a polyphenylene sulfide multifilament yarn and the use of a polyphenylene sulfide multifilament yarn. The process for producing a polyphenylene sulfide multifilament yarn is characterized in that only after time period between 0.1 sec and 0.3 sec after leaving the spinneret the filaments of the spun yarn are subjected to an active cooling stage. The Polyphenylene sulfide multifilament yarn having a filament linear density of 5 dtex to 30 dtex, an overall linear density of 500 dtex to 2500 dtex, a breaking tenacity in the range of 50 cN/tex to 80 cN/tex and an elongation at break of 8% to 16% for a yarn with a breaking tenacity in the range of 60 cN/tex to 80 cN/tex and an elongation at break of 16% to 30% for a yarn with a breaking tenacity in the range of 50 cN/tex to 60 cN/tex.

  • Patent number: 7803431
Abstract: A method for coating yarn is proposed, including steps in which the yarn is first placed in contact with a dispersion of the coating agent in a dispersing agent or with the coating agent in melted form, optionally excess dispersion or melt is scraped back off the yarn, and then the coating is formed on the yarn, where in the case of the dispersion this occurs by means of at least partially removing the dispersing agent by heating, and the yarn thus coated is then cooled down and wound, which is distinguished by the fact that the coated yarn undergoes additional cooling before winding.

  • Patent number: 4867925
Abstract: Manufacture of a multifilament polyester yarn which is suitable for use as an industrial yarn, particularly tire yarn, and displays a specific breaking strength at high spinning speeds, the yarn is made in accordance with a process comprising the successive steps of spinning a molten polymer through a plurality of holes, cooling and drawing the resulting filaments, and finally collecting them, the polymer flow in each of the spinneret holes exhibits a core portion having a higher relative viscosity and a sheath portion having a lower relative viscosity, the difference between said relative viscosities amounting to less than 0.100, preferably 0.040-0.003.
