  • Patent number: 8119246
Abstract: Method for producing a reflective, waterproof, water-vapor permeable membrane, comprising the following steps, Provision of a waterproof, water-vapor permeable membrane, Provision of a carrier foil, Application of the membrane onto the carrier foil, Application of a metal surface onto the membrane's free surface via a vacuum sputtering process, Application of a waterproof, water-vapor permeable cover layer, Removal of the carrier foil. Reflective, waterproof, water-vapor permeable membrane with a metal coating, which is provided with a continuous cover layer, characterized in that at least 80% of the surface of the active metal coating is retained on the membrane after 3 washings according to DIN EN ISO 6330:2000.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6800573
Abstract: A water-vapor-permeable, watertight, heat-reflecting flat composite is made by a process of combining a metal layer and a nonporous, water-vapor-permeable, watertight, hydrophilic flat substrate. The process includes at least the three steps of (1) selecting the substrate, (2) pre-cleaning the substrate, and (3) applying the substrate to the metal layer. Such a composite offers protection from heat loss, infrared-based detection, ultraviolet radiation, electro-smog, and static electricity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 31, 2001
Date of Patent: October 5, 2004
    Assignee: Sympatex Technologies GmbH

  • Patent number: 5562977
Abstract: Disclosed is the use of a laminate of a textile material covered with a copolyetherester film having a water vapor transmission rate of at least 1000 g/m.sup.2 /day for the manufacture therefrom of waterproof rainwear, shoes, tents, and mattress covers, and for the complete covering therewith of molded articles of foam rubber for use in chairs or mattresses, the copolyetherester being composed of a plurality of recurrent intralinear long-chain ester units and short-chain ester units which are randomly joined head-to-tail through ester bonds, with at least 20 wt. % of the long-chain ester units being prepared from a long-chain glycol having a carbon to oxygen ratio in the range of 2.0 to 2.4, which glycol constitutes 15-45 wt. % of the copolyetherester, and with at least 70 wt. % of the short-chain ester units consisting of butylene naphthalate units constituting 20-80 wt. % of the copolyetherester.

  • Patent number: 5114784
Abstract: Moldings made from foam plastic having an integrated covering of a laminate having a layer of certain copolyether esters. These are, in particular, foam-molded mattresses and cushions for furniture and vehicles, in particular car seats. Compared with the corresponding known moldings, having a polyurethane layer, they are distinguished by lower processing shrinkage and good bonding of the copolyether ester layer to the polyurethane core.
