  • Patent number: 11534325
Abstract: A method for anal or stomal irrigation includes providing an irrigation system to a user and instructing the user to operate the system to expel the irrigating liquid from a catheter tip. The irrigation pressure is controlled with the control system in response to input from a sensor such that a pressure at the catheter tip approaches a predetermined threshold pressure value without exceeding the predetermined pressure value.

  • Publication number: 20220226561
Abstract: A connector is disclosed that attaches an irrigation catheter to tubing of an anal or stomal irrigation system. The connector has a housing, a pressure control device retained within the housing, and a restriction element. The pressure control device has an inlet channel on a distal side of the pressure control device communicating along an irrigation flow path with an outlet channel on a proximal side of the pressure control device, and a secondary outlet located between the inlet channel and the outlet channel and in communication with the irrigation flow path. The restriction element is inserted into the secondary outlet.

  • Patent number: 11324878
Abstract: An irrigation system for anal or stomal irrigation includes a tubing system attachable between a reservoir and a catheter. The tubing system has a proximal portion attachable to the reservoir and a distal portion including a distal end that is attachable to the catheter, with the tubing system providing an irrigation flow path from the proximal portion attachable to the reservoir through the distal end attachable to the catheter. A pump is operable to move the liquid through the irrigation flow path to provide the anal or stomal irrigation out of the catheter. A pressure control device is attachable to the distal portion of the tubing system and communicates with the catheter. The pressure control device has a valve that is adapted to limit an irrigation pressure for the anal or stomal irrigation out of the catheter to a value less than a pre-determined pressure threshold.

  • Publication number: 20210113761
Abstract: An irrigation system for anal or stomal irrigation includes a reservoir, a tubing system providing a first flow path between the reservoir and a catheter, and a pressure channel separate from the first flow path. A pump is operable to move the liquid through the first flow path from the reservoir and through the catheter. A control system is connected to the tubing system. A connector couples the tubing system to the catheter, where the connector includes a chamber coupling the pressure channel to the first flow path, with a membrane located in the chamber between the first flow path and the pressure channel. A pressure sensor communicates with the control system which operates the pump to control the anal or the stomal irrigation with the liquid based on the pressure sensed in the first flow path.

  • Patent number: 10792184
Abstract: A system for anal and/or stomal irrigation comprises a reservoir (102) for an irrigating liquid, a catheter (100) comprising a catheter tip for insertion into the rectum or stoma of a user and for expelling of the irrigating liquid from the catheter tip, and a tubing system (121) providing a conduit for the irrigating liquid between the reservoir and the catheter tip. A pump (101) is provided to pump the irrigating liquid from the reservoir to the catheter tip, and a control system (103) controls a flow condition, such as the amount of liquid expelled at the catheter tip. A sensor (153) determines a measure of pressure in at least one first predetermined position in the tubing system and/or the catheter during operation of the pump, on the basis of which the flow condition is estimated. The control system is configured to control the pumping operation of the pump in response to the measure of pressure.
