  • Patent number: 8590599
Abstract: A cooler arrangement comprising a charge air cooler which comprises at least one first pipeline for guiding compressed air during cooling and a tank which receives the cooled compressed air via an outlet aperture from the first pipeline, and an EGR cooler which comprises at least one second pipeline for guiding exhaust gases during cooling and a tank which receives the cooled exhaust gases from an outlet aperture of the second pipeline. The cooler arrangement comprises a tubular element extending from the EGR cooler's tank to the charge air cooler's tank. The tubular element has an outlet aperture for exhaust gases which is situated downstream of the most downstream outlet aperture in the charge air cooler's tank with respect to the main direction of flow of the air in the tank.

  • Patent number: 8250867
Abstract: An arrangement for recirculation of exhaust gases of a supercharged combustion engine includes a return line for recirculating exhaust gases, an air-cooled EGR cooler and a bypass line having an extent such that it can lead recirculating exhaust gases past the EGR cooler. A valve is operable to be placed in a first position to lead the whole flow of recirculating exhaust gases through the EGR cooler during situations where there is no risk of ice formation in the EGR cooler, and in a second position to lead the whole flow of recirculating exhaust gases through the bypass line during situations where there is risk of ice formation in the EGR cooler.

  • Patent number: 8166758
Abstract: A cooling arrangement for a vehicle engine including at least one cooling element which has flowing through it a gaseous medium operable to being cooled by an external air flow which flows in a specified direction through the cooling element during operation of the combustion engine. A heat-supplying element is fitted at a location upstream from the cooling element with respect to the direction of the cooling air flow so that at least part of the air flowing through the heat-supplying element also flows through the cooling element. A control device is operable to activate the heat-supplying element so that the air flowing through the heat-supplying element is warmed during situations where there is risk of the gaseous medium in the cooling element being cooled to below a lowest acceptable temperature. The heat-supplying element and the cooling element have a connection so that they constitute a composite unit.

  • Patent number: 8025045
Abstract: A cooler device for a motor vehicle including a charge air cooler with a first cooler element, an EGR cooler with a second cooler element arranged substantially in plane with the first cooler element is disclosed. A screening device regulates air flow through the cooler elements. A control mechanism is operable to switch the screening device to and from between an open position and a closed position. A first screening portion allows more air to pass through than a second screening portion when the screening device is in the closed position such that air flow through the first cooler element is limited to a lesser extent than through the second cooler element in the closed position.

Abstract: A cooler device for a motor vehicle comprising: a charge air cooler with a first cooler element, an EGR cooler with a second cooler element the first cooler element and the second cooler element are arranged substantially in plane with one another. A screening device is arranged in front of or behind the cooler elements in order to regulate the air flow through the cooler elements. The screening device comprises a first screening portion associated with the first cooler element and a second screening portion associated with the second cooler element. A control mechanism is operable to switch the screening device to and fro between an open position and a closed position.
