After selection of a storage position, a transport platform movably mounted on a horizontally movable carriage above the rows is driven to a location above the selected storage position with the platform moved between two possible positions for dispensing articles into the respective rows, an article conveyor on the platform is actuated to transport the article off the platform into the underlying storage position, where it is stacked on top of any previously stacked articles, and the platform is driven back to a start position to receive the next article. The procedure is repeated to distribute subsequent articles to selected storage positions in the storage area.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a bag (101) with a zipper closure and a method for making such a bag. The bag is formed of a first (102) and a second (103) superposed flat side and folded side pieces (104) disposed between the flat sides of the bag and welded to edge areas at the side edges of the flat sides. The bag includes interacting zipper parts (114) in the form of a male part (120) and a female part (119) connected with each their flat side and extending from side edge to side edge. In order to achieve the largest possible opening of the bag, the folded side edges are extending from the bottom edge of the bag to the top edge of the bag. In the side pieces a thinning of material (123) is established in an area next to the areas in the flat sides where the zipper parts are disposed. Thus, the side pieces in the thinned area will have a material thickness enabling the male and female parts to engage each other while at the same time the material of the side pieces is clamped there between.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a bag web for packing articles in film bags provided as a contiguous web. At an opening edge, the bag web is provided with peripheral strip areas having holes intended for guide connection with guide means that can retain and guide the bags along a conveyor path through a filling station. The bag items will thus be contiguous along an upper edge, which is used for guiding. The bag webs include the film webs forming opposing front and back sides of the bag and additional film pieces disposed between the flat sides of the bag in order thereby to form side or bottom, or both side and bottom, of the bag. By such a bag web is achieved a particularly simple and rapid filling of the type with stand bottom and with folded side edges.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a method for packing articles, liquid or loose material in film bags which are conveyed through a filling station in a continuous web of bag items, wherein the bag openings are kept open for reception of articles, after which the bags are closed and separated from the web. In order to increase the filling rate and make the bags cheaper, the bag web is provided with a central support region extending longitudinally of the bag web and connecting bag items that are disposed side by side transversely of the web. The central support region is conveyed on a support rail along the conveyor path through the filling station and formed as an entirely or partially closed channel. The peripheral areas of the bag items at the outermost opposite bag opening edges of two juxtaposed bag items are brought into guiding connection with guide means adapted for retaining and guiding edge areas at opposing bag opening edges along a conveyor path through the filling station.

The film webs (3) are passed between a pair of rollers (6) which are pressed against each other, retaining the film webs therebetween. Thermal sealing across part of the width of the film webs is performed so that unbroken longitudinal areas (9) without any thermal sealing appear in the longitudinal direction of the film webs (3). The medium is filled into the packing before closing it for the formation of the medium-filled packing.

    Abstract: A system for distributing articles into an internal compartment of a storage unit has a longitudinally displaceable support or platform above the compartment which is movable longitudinally between a plurality of spaced discharge areas over corresponding storage positions. The support has at least one free edge, and is moved until an article carried on the support is displaced by a pusher moved into the path of the article and pushed over the edge to drop into the selected storage position. In one example, the support has opposite free edges and articles are selectively pushed over the edges into different storage positions. The process is repeated to dispense articles into different storage positions for uniform filling, and to control movement of the support and deployment of the pusher so that articles are dispensed into the storage positions with available space.

    Abstract: A retrofit ice making and bagging apparatus and retrofit installation method provide automatic supply of bags of ice into a freezer compartment. The apparatus has an outer housing with a lower end configured for securing on top of an aisle freezer so that openings in the lower end of the housing and upper end of the freezer are aligned to provide a passageway into the freezer compartment. An ice making unit and bag making and filling station are mounted in the housing. Ice is transported from the ice making station into partially formed bags at the bag making and filling station, and a bag is sealed and separated when a sufficient amount of ice is supplied to the bag. The bag making and filling station communicates with the passageway into a storage compartment in the freezer, whereby separated bags of ice fall into the storage compartment on completion.
