  • Publication number: 20080193771
Abstract: For preventing or reducing temperature gradient caused bending of a structural element made of a material capable of withstanding heating to a specific temperature for an extended period of time, when heating the element to the specific temperature, the structural element is connected to an adjacent supporting structural element through a high temperature resistant supporting body. The structural element, providing the high temperature resistant supporting body is provided as a pultruded profiled body including a solidified high temperature resistant resin and reinforcing fibers at least a part of which are constituted by fibers exhibiting high strength and high stiffness at a low temperature and a reduced strength and a reduced stiffness when exposed to and possibly deteriorated at the specific temperature. The structural element is fixated relative to its supporting structure by means of the pultruded body.

  • Publication number: 20080019768
Abstract: A method of joining two profiled pultruded panels, wherein each of the panels has a base wall and a profiled element having a web extending from the base wall to a head, wherein the method includes: (a) positioning the panels in co-planar relationship to position the webs of the profiled elements face to face; (b) providing an arresting fitting having two co-operating parts, each part having a top component, a flange extending in an acute angle from the top component, and a pair of arresting elements for arresting the two parts in the arresting position; (c) arranging the arresting fitting straddling the two profiled elements while in the open position; and (d) sliding the top components of the two co-operating palts relative to one another for shifting the two parts from the open position to the arresting position.

  • Publication number: 20060247901
Abstract: A method of selecting and delivering an element for a load-bearing structure includes providing load requirements and dimensions of the structure; addressing a computer to select an element from a computer database; defining specific dimensions thereof corresponding to the dimensions of the structure; and addressing the computer to calculate the specific load capability of the selected element for comparison with the load requirements of the structure. A positive validation response is forwarded if the load requirements are fulfilled. If not, a negative validation response is forwarded, and an alternative element is selected from the database, and the load capability thereof is calculated for comparison with the load requirements of the structure for fulfilment of the load requirements. Data identifying the alternative element along with the negative validation response is forwarded to the computer. The validation response produces a delivery order for the selected element or the alternative element.

  • Patent number: 6822551
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the purpose of ensuring positioning between a fixed automatic fueling service terminal and a vehicle, such that the vehicle is identified within a close range and authorized to dock at an identified service terminal to exchange services. This is accomplished by wirelessly determining the proximity of a couplable vehicle, with respect to a docking location at the service terminal. When a vehicle is within a specified distance of an automatic fueling service terminal, known as the zone of proximity detection, the vehicle identification code and service terminal identification code are both continuously determined and passed to a multi-port station controller, for authentication of service transactions and secure service processes, including automatically fueling the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040104814
Abstract: An energy exchange network provides a coupling service to users of the network. Access to a user through an access controller is controlled initially by allowing only the coupling service to communicate with the user. Several wireless communications zones are established so that the vehicle can be identified and guided to effect coupling. The coupling service effects control of the physical connection of a user vehicle to the energy exchange network. Typically, other services are subsequently provided and a service is not given more access than needed at any point in the sequence, hence a user can only respond to the service currently connected and cannot access other services. The coupling service automates connection to the energy exchange network while protecting the network against unauthorized access. A security service is associated with the coupling service to provide various levels of security for users of the coupling service.

  • Publication number: 20040098616
Abstract: An energy exchange network provides services to users through a firewall. The firewall includes a plurality of ports and a plurality of services. Access to a client through the firewall is controlled by mapping a port to a service so that at any given time, the client is communicating with one service via one port. A different service must access the client through a different port. Typically, services are provided sequentially so that access through the ports is also sequential, a service is not given more access than needed at any point in the sequence, hence a user can only respond to the service currently connected and cannot access other services.

  • Patent number: 6735916
Abstract: An elongate structural member comprising a structural outer shell and at least one arcuate or diagonal reinforcing member within. The structural member is used in structural, semi-structural or cladding applications to carry floor loading, walkway loading, wheeled loading, pressure loading in buildings, bridges and other loading carrying applications. An elongate structural member has an outer shell formed by first and second flanges joined to first and second external webs to have a cross-section in the form of a parallelogram. The first and second external webs are mutually parallel and inclined at an acute angle to the first and second flanges with the flanges being mutually parallel. At least one reinforcing web extends between the first and second flanges within said outer shell. The reinforcing web or webs are inclined to the flanges at the same acute angle as the first and second external webs but in the opposite direction.
