  • Publication number: 20240187930
Abstract: A method includes monitoring an upstream traffic demand at a first access point and based at least in part on the upstream traffic demand on the first access point, communicating a message that causes a mobile device to transmit upstream messages to the first access point and to receive downstream messages from a second access point. The first access point is physically closer to the mobile device than the second access point.

  • Publication number: 20240172012
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to optimize wireless local area network access point beam settings. A method includes, during a survey period, causing a first access point and a second access point in a wireless local area network, to simultaneously transmit survey transmissions according to a predetermined sequence of transmission states, receiving, from a survey station that received the survey transmissions during the survey period, telemetry associated with the survey transmissions, the telemetry including a location of the survey station when the survey station received the survey transmissions, and after the survey period, controlling, based on the telemetry associated with the survey transmissions, the first access point to operate according to a first transmission state from among the transmission states and the second access point to operate according to a second transmission state from among the transmission states.

  • Publication number: 20240171988
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to allocate use of controlled wireless spectrum. A method includes receiving, from a wireless local area network service provider, a request for wireless local area network spectrum for a future time window, wherein the wireless local area network spectrum is subject to automated frequency coordination, in response to the request, sending, to an incumbent that uses the wireless local area network spectrum, a query consistent with the request for the wireless local area network spectrum for the future time window, receiving, from the incumbent, in response to the query, a grant to use the wireless local area network spectrum for the future time window, and in response to receiving the grant, sending permission to the wireless local area network service provider to use the wireless local area network spectrum for the future time window.

  • Publication number: 20240163703
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe assigning RUs to P2P stations to perform P2P communication. An AP can assign trigger frames to assign RUs to STAs to use when transmitting data to the AP. In one embodiment, the AP polls the P2P STAs associated with it to receive interference data. This data can indicate the affect other peer STAs have on the P2P STAs when transmitting data. Using the interference data, the AP can determine whether another P2P pair or a non-P2P station can be assigned RUs to transmit at the same time, and at what data rates.

  • Publication number: 20240155368
Abstract: Techniques herein facilitate dynamic configuration of a wireless local area network (WLAN) for large public venue (LPV) environments. In one example, a method may include providing an initial configuration for access points APs of a WLAN for an event at an LPV based on a profile for the event, a location of each AP for the venue, and anticipated demand at the APs; determining, for a particular time for the event, a distribution of wireless devices and channel support capabilities of the wireless devices different locations for the LPV; and providing an updated configuration for one or more APs at the one or more locations for the venue based on the distribution of the wireless devices and the channel support capabilities of the wireless devices determined for the particular time for the event at the LPV.

  • Publication number: 20240142547
Abstract: A method for calibrating a magnetometer of a device is provided. The method includes collecting, with a portable calibration device having a magnetometer, magnetic field measurements in a spatial region about a mounting location where the device is to be installed for operation, estimating magnetometer compensation parameters to correct for magnetic field distortion at the mounting location based on the magnetic field measurements collected by the portable calibration device, and configuring the device installed at the mounting location based on the magnetometer compensation parameters.

  • Publication number: 20240147383
Abstract: A method for providing adaptive radio transmit power based on antenna pattern and elevation tilt measured through an accelerometer is provided. The method includes estimating an orientation of a wireless device using an orientation sensor integrated in or on the wireless device, and determining an adjustment factor for a transmitter of the wireless device based on the orientation. The method further includes adjusting output power of the transmitter of the wireless device based on the adjustment factor.

  • Publication number: 20240147245
Abstract: A method for adaptive presence-based radio configuration of access points in a venue includes defining a number of regions in the venue in which access points are deployed, each region having a center point, and assigning a first access point to a first region, positioned at the center of the first region. The method also includes affecting a first energy level in the first region, which corresponds to a power of a transmit signal emitted by the first access point, and assigning to the first region a configurable capacity value that determines an acceptable overlap constraint between the first energy level of the first region and an energy level of a neighboring region. The method further includes generating data describing a tessellation graph in which a possible map of the access points is formed using an iterative descent process based on the first energy level and the overlap constraint.

  • Publication number: 20240098493
Abstract: Techniques for identifying a trusted SSID for a wireless network are disclosed. Prior to establishing a connection with a wireless network, a first network message is received from a first access point (AP) identifying a first service set identifier (SSID) associated with a first wireless network, a second network message is received from a second AP identifying a second SSID associated with a second wireless network, and a visual similarity is determined between a first visual representation of the first SSID and a second visual representation of the second SSID. The second SSID is designated as suspicious based on the determined visual similarity.
