  • Publication number: 20140098564
Abstract: LED-based light fixtures are presented that are configured for attachment to a substrate to advantageously function without a reflector and without a backing plate. A light fixture according to an embodiment includes a waveguide having a front surface and a rear surface for emitting light, the waveguide configured to optically couple to a surface of a substrate. The light fixture also includes at least one LED light source disposed on an edge of the waveguide to emit light into the waveguide. The waveguide is configured to emit a first portion of the light above the rear surface for reflection by the surface of the substrate back into the waveguide and through the front surface of the waveguide, and to emit a second portion of the light through the front surface.

  • Patent number: 8471868
Abstract: System, methods, and computer-readable media for providing a gesture-controlled user interface in interacting with a communication device are provided. Embodiments of the present invention include a communication device that recognizes a gesture made by a person that has one or more transducers attached to their hand. The gesture is recognized by performing calculations on the sound waves received from the one or more transducers. In addition, the gesture may be recognized using a digital camera and image recognition techniques. In one embodiment, the gesture is recognized using an echolocation system that transmits ultrasonic waves and captures the waves reflected off the object making the gesture. In another embodiment, the gesture is made and interpreted in relation to a user interface that is projected from the communication device using a laser projector.

  • Patent number: 8254785
Abstract: An image encodes a voice message and communication data for delivery of the voice message. A wireless communication device optically receives and processes the received image to generate image data. The image data represents the voice message and indicates the communication data. The wireless communication device processes the image data, and in response, wirelessly transmits the voice message for delivery based on the communication data.

  • Patent number: 8195227
Abstract: An image encodes processing parameters for a set of images. A wireless communication device optically receives and processes the received image to generate first image data. The image data represents the processing parameters. The wireless communication device processes the first image data to obtain the processing parameters. The wireless communication device then optically receives the set of images. The set of images encode second image data. The wireless communication device processes the optically received set of images based on the processing parameters to obtain second image data.

  • Publication number: 20120005153
Abstract: A method for structuring a data store by analysing source data bases using the steps of relationship discovery, schema merging, hierarchy discovery, heuristic based attribute inclusion and optionally denormalising This is applied to products such as Navision in building an OLAP cube for use in business intelligence applications. Also disclosed is a security adapter to carry security settings from a source data base to an OLAP cube which includes creating a synthetic dimension in the OLAP cube which is a common trait related to all other dimensions in the cube and one role is created for each role in the source data base and users treated as members of those roles as defined in the source data base.
