Publication number: 20080223228Abstract: A horizontal meat slicer includes a frame and a lower conveyor belt having forward and rearward ends, the lower conveyor belt operative to receive a meat product thereon and transport it into and through the device. An upper pressing conveyor belt includes forward and rearward ends, the upper pressing conveyor belt and the lower conveyor belt cooperating such that meat product is compressed between the lower conveyor belt and the upper pressing conveyor belt. At least one bandsaw blade is rotatably mounted on the frame, a cutting section of the bandsaw blade traveling between the upper belt and lower belts. Finally, at least one drive device such as a motor is operatively connected to each of the conveyor belts and the bandsaw blade to drive them to pull the meat product through the device and cut the meat product via the cutting edge of the bandsaw blade.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventors: Henry Biggs, Steve Korteley

Patent number: 7096769Abstract: An automatic top slice removal device includes a frame, a lower conveyor belt and an adjustably mounted upper conveyor belt extending generally parallel with and spaced from the lower conveyor belt. A meat product slicing device includes a blade interposed between the upper conveyor belt and the lower conveyor belt to separate a top slice from the remainder of the meat product. A top slice separator plate is adjustably mounted between the upper conveyor belt and the lower conveyor belt and positioned rearwardly adjacent and vertically aligned with the blade and extends rearwards therefrom to maintain separation of the top slice and the remainder of the meat product between the belts. Finally, a top slice removal conveyor belt is positioned rearwards of the top slice separator plate and below the upper conveyor belt to remove the top slice from the remainder of the meat product.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2004Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Inventors: Henry Biggs, Steve Korteley

Publication number: 20060162518Abstract: An exact weight meat cutting device includes a frame, a lower conveyor belt and an adjustably mounted upper conveyor belt extending generally parallel with and spaced from the lower conveyor belt. A scale reads the weight of the meat product and optical sensors read the width and length of the meat product as it passes through and the height of the meat product is determined by the vertical spacing of the upper and lower conveyor belts. A computer calculates the dimensions of the exact weight piece of meat product that should be cut from the remainder of the meat product by using the size and weight measurements, and the position-adjustable blade of the slicing device, which is interposed between the upper and lower conveyor belts, is positioned by the computer to cut and separate the exact weight piece from the remainder piece of the meat product.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2006Publication date: July 27, 2006Inventors: Henry Biggs, Steve Kortely

Publication number: 20050132864Abstract: A horizontal meat slicer includes a frame and a lower conveyor belt having forward and rearward ends, the lower conveyor belt operative to receive a meat product thereon and transport it into and through the device. An upper pressing conveyor belt includes forward and rearward ends, the upper pressing conveyor belt and the lower conveyor belt cooperating such that meat product is compressed between the lower conveyor belt and the upper pressing conveyor belt. A rotating blade is mounted on the frame, the rotating blade having a cutting edge interposed between the lower conveyor belt and the upper pressing conveyor belt. Finally, at least one drive device such as a motor is operatively connected to each of the conveyor belts and the rotating blade to drive them to pull the meat product through the device and cut the meat product via the cutting edge of the blade.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2005Publication date: June 23, 2005Inventors: Henry Biggs, Steve Kortely

Patent number: 6865507Abstract: In combination, a meat product selected from the group consisting of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fowl and fish and a thickness gauge for meat products. The thickness gauge includes a base platform and a generally upright stand mounted on the base platform. A thickness gauge support arm is pivotably and height adjustably mounted on the generally upright stand, the thickness gauge support arm further includes a pivoting elbow formed therein. A digital thickness gauge is mounted on the outer end of the thickness gauge support arm, the digital thickness gauge including a vertically adjustable indicator head for engaging the meat product. Finally, the digital thickness gauge is operative to measure the thickness of the meat product by the computing the distance of vertical movement of the indicator head of the digital thickness gauge.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Inventors: Henry Biggs, Steve Korteley
