  • Patent number: 4356581
Abstract: A bearing assembly for structures composed of two main elements each of which forms a portion of either the supported structure or the supporting structure or foundation. One of these main elements is formed in a "U" type shape and provided with flutings on the interior sides facing each other. The other main element is formed to fit into the interior of the other "U" type main element and is provided with flutings on opposing sides of said element. As one main element is inserted into the other, the flutings of both elements can be aligned to face each other, and complementary cores inserted. Two or more of such cores inserted at opposing sides of the inserted element, would position the inserted main element securely into the other main element, the cores filling the flutings of the "U" type main element and thus providing a secure positioning to the supported structure.

  • Patent number: 4287620
Abstract: A body supporting assembly composed of pivotally connected supports provided with locking devices which change the functions of the supports and their adjusting means to provide a plurality of positions as may be desired by the occupant for comfort or may be required for various treatments or health reasons. The body supporting assembly is mounted on base members resting on the floor which can be adjusted in relation to the body supporting assembly to facilitate various positioning requirements.

  • Patent number: 4258445
Abstract: An improved adjustable body supporting assembly which is distinguished by its capability to provide with a single power means the movement of a support and the additional movement of a pivoting second support portion in relation to the first such as the head serving upper back support portion by means of linkages, to base and the improved adjustable body supporting assembly which is distinguished by single power means moving the lower body supports from a horizontal to an upward slanted position of the leg support in combination with the aligned knee support, and of moving the leg support from its slanted elevated position through a horizontal position at an angle to the knee support to a position with the leg support pivoted downward for a regular sit-up position.

  • Patent number: 4188677
Abstract: An adjustable body supporting assembly composed of a foundation and panel on which an assembly of pivotally connected plates rests, being mounted on said foundation with its centrally positioned part and provided with the means to adjust each plate in relation to its adjacent plate. A mattress is forming the top of the bed being held securely in position by encompassing plates of the said assembly. The foundation type panel is distinguished by its compact and simplified construction representing in effect an unbending lower foundation usually associated with regular assemblies composed of foundation and mattress. Means such as powered activators for the adjustment of the plates on which the mattress is mounted are incorporated in the foundation panel.

  • Patent number: 4181995
Abstract: A bridging structure of modular elements to carry road or rail traffic over crossings, bodies of water and as elevated roadways to provide additional lanes over and parallel to existing roads and freeways, and to provide elevated roadways along and over canals and rivers. Mainly intended to provide quickly assembled and relative inexpensive overpasses and constant flow traffic lanes for a certain part of the traffic, leaving more space for heavier traffic at the existing ground levels, and reducing pollution and fuel consumption from idling engines.

  • Patent number: 4133573
Abstract: An automobile body comprising a fixed lower part including a floor and side walls extending upwardly from the floor; a permanent roof covering the fore portion of said fixed part; and an adjustable roof hingedly mounted on said permanent roof at the front edge thereof. Side panels depend from the adjustable roof in overlapping relation to said side walls with inflatable sealing tubes between the two. A front seat is fixedly mounted on the floor beneath the permanent roof. A foldable rear seat is mounted behind the front seat and is adapted to assume the position immediately behind the front seat leaving a large space in the car body therebehind for cargo storage purposes. A pair of piston and cylinder assemblies are provided at the sides of the fixed part for raising or lowering the adjustable roof. A locking device is associated with each of these assemblies. The fixed part has a rear door that may be swung on either a vertical or horizontal axis.

  • Patent number: 4127906
Abstract: An adjustable bed-chair comprising a lower supporting frame, a first horizontal panel adjustable relative to the frame, a second panel pivoted at one end to said first panel and having a central recess opening thereinto from the bottom side. A body supporting assembly comprising a back and head support pivoted to said second panel at one end of said recess, a middle support pivoted to the other end of said recess and a leg support pivoted to said middle support. The back, middle, and leg support are covered by inflatable bags and these are covered by a layer of foam material. Bellows like inflatable bags are also provided to cause movement of the back support relative to the second panel; movement of the middle support relative to the central panel; movement of the leg support relative to the central support; and movement of the first panel relative to the supporting frame. A central portion of the mattress is removable and replaced by a toilet.
