  • Patent number: 7100896
Abstract: A system for loading, off-loading and/or transferring conventional international shipping containers with respect to transport vehicles which system includes a plurality of powered jacks each of which includes upper and lower container attachment members which are selectively engageable with upper and lower corner lock castings of the containers. Each attachment member is carried by a guide sleeve slideably mounted relative to a vertical standard with an upper guide sleeve being drivingly engaged with a power driven member such that, with the attachment members engaged with the corner locks of the container, the simultaneous activation of four jacks allows the elevation and/or lowering of a shipping container relative to a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5624225
Abstract: A system for hauling cargo containers which includes elevatable frames on which containers are supported for loading, shipment, unloading and storage. The frames are designed to be mounted to alignment cradles carried by transport vehicles such as conventional trailers. Lifting devices are mounted on the frames and/or the alignment cradles to raise and lower the frames relative to the vehicles so that the containers may be loaded or unloaded without separate lifts or cranes. The frames include support legs which are movable outwardly and pivotable vertically so as to support the frames in elevated relationship to the transport vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5417540
Abstract: A system for hauling cargo containers which includes elevatable frames on which the containers are supported during transportation, loading and unloading of the containers. The frames are designed to be either directly mounted to conventional trailers or other transport vehicles or interlocked to alignment members mounted to such vehicles. The frames include support legs which are movable outwardly and pivotable vertically so as to support the frames in elevated relationship to the transport vehicles. Lifting devices are mounted on the frames to raise and lower the frames relative to the vehicles so that the containers may be loaded or unloaded relative to the vehicles without supplemental lifts or cranes. In a separate embodiment, the transport vehicles include lifting devices for elevating the frames for purposes of loading or unloading.

  • Patent number: 4076442
Abstract: An apparatus in a machine tool controls the flow of coolant in accordance to tool contact with a workpiece. The preferred embodiment measures and stores a torque value exerted upon a spindle motor under no-load conditions and compares this value to an operating torque value upon the same spindle motor. When the tool contacts a workpiece and the operating torque exceeds the stored no-load torque value by a predetermined amount, a solenoid operated valve is opened and coolant is permitted to the area of tool engagement with the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4048879
Abstract: An apparatus utilizes fluid pressure measurements to sense sufficient chucking stock for a chuck with work gripping surfaces. A flexible seal cooperates with a workpiece at a location proximal to the chuck jaws to restrict flow of a pressurized fluid. Flow resistance varies at this location with the presence or absence of sufficient chucking stock. A pressure switch senses the resulting fluid backpressure which varies with the resistance of the flow path and generates a signal indicative of the presence or absence of sufficient chucking stock which is used to control functions of a machine tool.

  • Patent number: 3982085
Abstract: An apparatus for sensing sufficient chucking stock in a rotating work-holding chuck having a self-contained circular plate assembly adapted to the face of the work-holding chuck, wherein a clearance bore is provided through the plate assembly to permit passage of machining stock and a radially movable indicator pin is provided within the plate assembly to detect the presence of machining stock within the clearance bore. The radially movable indicator pin will urge a trip plunger out of the circumferential surface of the plate assembly when no stock is present, and a limit switch will be tripped by the trip plunger to signal the absence of chucking stock.
