  • Publication number: 20150212139
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for sensitive and selective identification of ground faults in a three phase power distribution system are described. The three phase conductors of the three phase power distribution system may be surrounded by a sensor comprising a magnetic ring with a thin opening, and a sensitive magnetometer that operates on magnetoresistance may be disposed in the opening of the ring. The output voltage of the magnetometer is proportional to the magnetic field in the opening of the magnetic ring and is proportional to ground current that transits the magnetic ring and returns outside the ring on the ground system. Comparison of the quantity and/or phase angle between the sensed circuit current and the current in the neutral can determine whether the current is inherent capacitive current or a ground fault.

  • Patent number: 4692178
Abstract: A wheel assembly, system and method utilizing said wheel assembly are disclosed for directing filaments, strands and the like in such a manner that minimizes the wraparound of such on the wheel assembly. The wheel includes a rotatable, generally disc shaped hub having walls for supporting a plurality of rods about the hub's peripheral edge. The rods are secured to the walls of the hub such that each rod traverses the peripheral edge. The rods are also spaced from one another and arranged so as to define an annular gathering or traveling path upon which said filaments, strands and the like are directed as the wheel rotates. The spacing between the rods is such that the gathering or traveling path is at least 50% discontinuous.

  • Patent number: 4037265
Abstract: An improved electrical power supply system is disclosed for preventing arcing between two or more electrical machines energized by a common power source with at least one of said machines receiving power through a lengthy power cable, said cable having a grounding conductor connecting the external conductive housing of said machine to earth ground. A unique multi-winding transformer is connected between the common power source and the cable, so that arcing attributable to voltage induced in the cable grounding conductor is limited to non-dangerous current levels by an inductive impedance from a first winding of the multi-winding transformers, which winding in series with the cable grounding conductor. However, under short circuit conditions, another winding of the multi-winding transformer overcomes the inductive impedance of the first winding so that the current carrying capacity of the cable grounding conductor is no longer limited by the impedance of the first winding.
