  • Publication number: 20040221547
Abstract: Disclosed is a large round bale wrapped with a protective covering for permitting it to be stored outside. The covering is constructed of one or more layers of semi-permeable material. It is possible for an additional layer to be added to a region of the baler to be placed on the ground during storage, this additional layer resulting in the covering becoming essentially non-permeable in the region of the additional layer. A baler for applying the covering to a bale is disclosed together with a device for placing a visual marker on the bale so as to aid a person handling a discharged bale in knowing where the region covered with the additional layer of material is located so that this region may be manipulated into ground contact for storage.

  • Patent number: 6769224
Abstract: A large round baler is equipped with a net wrapping mechanism for wrapping a bale with net material that is wider that the width of the baling chamber so that the net material extends over the opposite ends of the bale. The baler has a baling chamber defined in part by a plurality of bale-forming belts mounted in side-by-side relationship on a plurality of belt support rolls extending between opposite sidewalls of the baling chamber. The net material is fed beneath the discharge gate of the baler to a crop inlet located between a lower front belt support roll carried by the discharge gate, the net being carried into the baling chamber by a fore-and-aft runs of the belts that extend between a lower rear and the lower front belt support roll, and carry the net along a guide surface defined by a plurality of channel members respectively located beneath the fore-and-aft runs of the belts.

  • Patent number: 6688092
Abstract: A baler is equipped with a pick-up for elevating a crop windrow from the ground and delivering it to a rotary conveyor which delivers the crop through an inlet to the baling chamber. Suspended for operation in conjunction with the pick-up so as to aid in achieving continuous, even delivery of crop to the baling chamber is a crop control arrangement including a baffle located in front of the path swept by the pick-up teeth and a plurality of hold down rods which are mounted to the baffle and extend to the rear to the rotary conveyor. The suspension of the baffle allows it to engage the top of a windrow and to flex vertically in a quick, responsive manner both to changes in thickness along the length of and crosswise to the width of the windrow.

  • Patent number: 6623167
Abstract: Each end of a roller is defined by a stub shaft that is non-circular in cross section and supported from a side wall for rotation by a ball bearing having an inner race containing a mounting hole that is shaped complementary to, and located on, the stub shaft. The inner race is clamped from moving axially or radially relative to the shaft, thereby preventing the bearing from knocking against the stub shaft during operation. According to one embodiment of the invention, the outer race of the bearing is mounted within a complementary shaped bore of a sleeve that has a cylindrical exterior surface and is, in turn, mounted for axial movement in a cylindrical bore of a bearing housing that is mounted to the side wall by the agency of a bearing support.

  • Patent number: 6622463
Abstract: A large round baler is equipped with a net wrap feeding mechanism mounted to the rear and bottom of the bale discharge gate. The feeding mechanism includes upper and lower feed rolls, with the lower roll being located closer to the discharge gate than the lower roll and, the pair of rolls thus being arranged to deliver wrapping material against an upright run of bale forming belts, the latter acting to carry the net to a pinch point formed between the belts, where they pass around a lower rear belt support roll, and a guide pan of a net material guide assembly that extends beneath and adjacent a lower run of the belts. A net wrap material cut-off device includes a fixed knife blade located forwardly of and extending parallel to the lower feed roll. The cut-off device further includes a pair of transversely spaced cut-off arms between which extend and to which are fixed an anvil.

  • Patent number: 6526736
Abstract: An overshot rotary conveyor includes a plurality of sets of flat tines welded to a cylindrical shaft at respective locations spaced across the shaft, each tine including a curved leading edge. Located on the opposite sides of each flat tine and having forward ends received about the cylindrical shaft is a stripper including upper and lower halves. The lower half is shaped to provide a clearance zone below flat planar sides of the upper half, and to provide a stripper edge at each side which is at the front of the clearance zone and acts to push crop carried over by the adjacent tine into the clearance zone where the crop drops away. Located ahead of the stripper edges at the opposite sides of the lower stripper half in the vicinity of the cylindrical shaft is a notch having the purpose engaging, and deflecting away from the conveyor shaft, any crop that may be carried past the stripper edge by the conveyor tine.
