Abstract: An augmented reality system that provides multi-media presentations super-imposed on and presented in conjunction with a standard printed book. The multi-media presentation may either be superimposed on the printed book itself; or on a scalable frame, called a virtual portal. A user electronic appliance, possessing a display screen, a camera, and a software application, takes an image of a printed page. A unique visual identifier is associated with each page. A multi-media presentation, including a video component, an audio component, and, optionally, a haptic component, is associated with unique visual identifier.
