  • Publication number: 20160312576
Abstract: A floating apparatus for use in a casing string and especially for use in offshore casing operations. The apparatus includes a valve configured such that, when there is a pressure differential across the valve below a predetermined mid-pressure threshold, the valve prevents fluid flow and, when the pressure differential exceeds a predetermined high-pressure threshold, said valve non-resiliently allows fluid flow across the valve.

  • Patent number: 9284795
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods of effectively wiping and displacing a deep water riser prior to disconnection from a blowout preventer. An exemplary riser displacement system includes a mandrel coupled to a work string, a seal containment canister arranged about at least a portion of the mandrel, and a seal assembly movable between an un-deployed configuration, where the seal assembly is arranged within the seal containment canister, and a deployed configuration, where the seal assembly is arranged outside of the seal containment canister, the seal assembly including a sleeve movably arranged about the mandrel and one or more sealing elements disposed at a distal end of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9238952
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a first casing string comprising one or more profiled seats furrowed into the first casing string's inner casing wall, a second casing string comprising an upper casing joint, a lower casing joint, and a tension-set external mechanical casing (EMC) packer positioned between the upper casing joint and the lower casing joint, wherein the tension-set EMC packer comprises a mandrel that is attached to the upper casing joint and to the lower casing joint, wherein the second casing string is disposed within the first casing string such that a casing casing annulus (CCA) is formed between the first casing string's inside diameter (ID) and the second casing string's outside diameter (OD), and wherein the recessed seats are positioned below the tension-set EMC packer prior to any engagement of the tension-set EMC packer with the first casing string.

  • Patent number: 9169721
Abstract: Expansion tools used to centralize a casing-casing annulus in a wellbore. Providing an elongate body having a first force multiplier case coupled to an expansion tool case. A piston may be arranged within the first force multiplier case and configured to translate axially therein. A ram may be arranged within the expansion tool case, the ram being coupled to the piston and configured to translate axially within the expansion tool case in response to a force applied by the piston. One or more lug assemblies are arranged within the expansion tool case and configured to radially expand once engaged by the ram as the ram translates axially.

  • Patent number: 9109437
Abstract: A method for centralizing an inner casing within an outer casing includes introducing an expansion tool into the inner casing, the expansion tool having an elongate body having a first force multiplier case coupled to an expansion tool case. A piston is arranged within the first force multiplier case and is actuated to move the piston axially in a first direction. A ram is arranged within the expansion tool case and engaged with the piston while moving in the first direction. One or more lug assemblies are arranged within the expansion tool case and are radially expanded with the ram as the ram axially translates in the first direction. The inner casing is plastically deformed with the one or more lug assemblies, which generate a corresponding one or more lugs in the inner casing configured to engage an inner surface of the outer casing.

  • Publication number: 20140352975
Abstract: A wellbore servicing method includes positioning a tubing string within a wellbore. The tubing string comprises a lower tubular coupled to an upper tubular via a disconnectable assembly having a lower section connected to the lower tubular and an upper section connected to the upper tubular. The method also includes disconnecting the lower tubular from the upper tubular via the disconnectable assembly. Disconnecting the lower tubular from the upper tubular comprises introducing a releasing member into the upper tubular and conveying the releasing member through the upper tubular to engage the disconnectable assembly. The method also includes retracting the upper tubular upwardly within the wellbore. Upon retracting the upper tubular, the releasing member is retracted along with the upper section of the disconnectable assembly. Also, upon retracting the upper tubular, a route of fluid communication out of the upper tubular is provided.

  • Publication number: 20130255967
Abstract: The present invention relates to expansion tools used to centralize a casing-casing annulus in a wellbore. One embodiment provides a method for centralizing an inner casing within an outer casing that includes introducing an expansion tool into the inner casing. The expansion tool has an elongate body having a first force multiplier case coupled to an expansion tool case. A piston arranged within the first force multiplier case is actuated to move the piston axially in a first direction within the first force multiplier case. The piston engages a ram arranged within the expansion tool, and causes the radial expansion of one or more lug assemblies arranged within the expansion tool case. The inner casing is then plastically deformed with the one or more lug assemblies as they expand radially.
