  • Patent number: 10208231
Abstract: A high performance sealant for repairing punctures in tires includes a highly filtered natural rubber latex, an ultra-fine inorganic powder, a polyamide suspension, and an antifreeze agent that includes water and at least one of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. The high performance sealant can readily pass through a valve stem of a tire without removing the core and seal, and provides a strong and durable sealing of the puncture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 16, 2015
Date of Patent: February 19, 2019
    Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.
Inventors: Martin Patrick Spindler, Shees N. Sulemanji, Henry Friedrich Ferdinand Klemm, Brandt A. Haener, Bryan Douglas Smith, Gordon Chetosky
  • Patent number: 9963620
Abstract: An environmentally friendly puncture sealing composition is provided which includes natural rubber latex, suitably high filtered natural rubber latex having a controlled particle size, and an aqueous antifreeze agent that includes water, glycerin and propylene glycol. The aqueous antifreeze agent has a viscosity profile similar to common ethylene glycol-based antifreeze agents, but is free of ethylene glycol. The puncture sealing composition avoids the environmental hazards of ethylene glycol, and is effective at temperatures of ?30° C. and lower.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 2016
Date of Patent: May 8, 2018
    Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.
Inventors: Shees N. Sulemanji, Brandt A. Haener, Bryan Douglas Smith, Martin Patrick Spindler, Henry Friedrich Ferdinand Klemm, Gordon Chetosky
  • Patent number: 9914271
Abstract: In a device for dispensing tire sealant from a canister (17) by means of a pressure source (16), where the pressure source (16) and canister (17) are contained in a housing (1), the canister (17) in the housing (1) should be connected to the pressure source (16) in a removable fashion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 2016
Date of Patent: March 13, 2018
    Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.
Inventors: Martin Patrick Spindler, Byron Peter Hutten, Henry Friedrich Ferdinand Klemm, Volker Pfeifer
