  • Patent number: 5735617
Abstract: A printhead assembly includes a member which cooperates with other printer structure to hold the printhead assembly in the printer An elongated printhead has a linear array of print elements that extend across at least a substantial portion of an image so as to produce a print line with a predetermined contour. The member and the mount are adjustably connected along the length of the printhead to locally vary the space between the mount and the member, whereby the shape of the printhead can be changed to adjust the contour of the print line.

  • Patent number: 5657252
Abstract: A dynamically configurable equipment integration architecture automatically records on a Host Computer (10) statistics from operation of Factory Equipment (18) received from a GEM Interface Server (16). The format of relevant messages containing selected reports are described in a Configuration File (44). Reports are enabled by execution of a Sampling Plan (50). Messages containing the selected reports received from the GEM Interface Server (16) are translated into a Script (46) utilizing the Configuration File (44). Interpreting the Script (46) causes statistics contained in the reports to be written to an Output File (52) stored on Secondary Storage (30) on the Host Computer (10).

  • Patent number: 4052334
Abstract: A pelleted support for catalysts suitable for use in olefin hydration to alcohols is prepared by heating to cure a shaped article formed by extrusion of a mixture of finely divided silica and colloidal silica containing 5-40% by weight of water. The presence of the specified amount of water prevents the extruded article from disintegrating on heating at elevated temperature.

  • Patent number: 4033361
Abstract: A tobacco-smoke filter contains, as adsorbent for volatile tobacco-smoke constituents, a macroporous amine-type anion-exchange resin which contains substantially primary amino groups only, for instance a cross-linked polyvinyl aromatic compound such as polystyrene cross-linked with divinyl benzene. Advantageously the resin is used in particulate form between fibrous, filamentary or paper filter sections or dispersed in tow. The resin may be half-neutralised with acetic acid or admixed with solid acid.

  • Patent number: 4031220
Abstract: Pharmaceutical formulations and their preparation, suitable for use in the treatment or prophylaxis of malaria, which comprise a compound of formula (I) ##STR1## where X is hydrogen, an alkali metal, the ammonium radical, or H.(CH.sub.2).sub.n.CO-- where n is 0 to 3, together with a compound of formula (II) ##STR2## where R.sup.3 is C1-C5 alkyl and R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are the same or different and are each selected from alkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy and di(C1-C5 alkyl)amino. Formulae (I) and (II) include pharmaceutically and pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salts of the respective compounds. Also provided is a method for the treatment of prophylaxis of malaria in a mammal comprising the administration to the mammal in combination of a compound of formula (I) and a compound of formula (II) as above defined.

  • Patent number: 3994285
Abstract: A pair of magnets is adapted to be rotated into several positions around the periphery of a limb for the purpose of producing the magnetic field used in blood flow measurements. Electrodes are arranged in pairs located diametrically opposite each other on the limb. The blood flow measurements are obtained by sequentially monitoring each pair in the array of electrodes located on the skin of the limb so as to obtain blood flow measurements at a plurality of circumferential locations on the limb. Each measurement is stored in a memory, with the heartbeat providing the timing reference. The averaged contributions of each of the several arteries in the limb are picked up by the electrodes to provide a valid total measurement of the overall blood flow in the limb.

  • Patent number: 3975812
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting pairs of wires to each other has an operating zone through which a continuous strip of connecting devices is fed from an entrance side to an exit side thereof. The connecting devices have wire-receiving ends which face laterally of the strip and have separate metallic connecting means in each of the ends. A pair of wires are located in the operating zone with one wire in alignment with each of the wire-receiving ends. Insertion punches on each side of the strip insert each wire into a metallic connecting means. The process is then repeated for the second pair of wires to connect the pairs to each other. The connectors are fed to the exit side of the operating zone, and removed from the strip. The apparatus can also be used for making tap connections to the conductors in a cable.

  • Patent number: 3964133
Abstract: Bundle tie devices, which may be of metal, comprises a thin strip of material having transversely extending slots. The slots have enlarged ends and the material between the enlarged ends is formed outwardly to provide vanes which are interleaved when the device is applied to a bundle. The side of the strip which is against the bundle has no projections which might damage the insulation of the wires in the bundle.

  • Patent number: 3962350
Abstract: Phenolic compounds, such as phenol itself, are formed by oxidizing the corresponding aromatic aldehyde precursors, in the vapor phase, with molecular oxygen, the gaseous oxidation product being cooled in the presence of an inert diluent to prevent formation of tarry condensation products. In a particular embodiment a mixture of toluene and benzaldehyde is reacted with oxygen to convert the benzaldehyde to phenol while a portion of the toluene is oxidized to benzaldehyde which is recycled. The products are separated by solvent extraction.

  • Patent number: 3955040
Abstract: In coextruded or extrusion coated, laminated, polymeric films which have been stretched by the inflated bubble technique, liquid can be entrapped between the collapsed bubble walls and can migrate to an interior layer of the laminate to treat same when the layer adjacent to the entrapped liquid is liquid permeable. For example, in a polyethylene/nylon/ethylene vinyl acetate/entrapped water/ethylene vinyl acetate/nylon/polyethylene laminated film the entrapped water will diffuse through the ethylene vinyl acetate layers to keep the nylon layers plasticized and impact resisitant.

  • Patent number: 3932018
Abstract: An electrical connection to an elongated conductor is made by means of a plate-like connecting member having a pair of open jaws which extend from a yoke. One of the jaws is connected to the yoke by a toggle link which is straightened when the jaws are closed to maintain the jaws in their closed condition and in electrical contact with the conductor. An apparatus is also disclosed for securing a plurality of connecting devices to a plurality of separate conductors in a single operation.
