Abstract: Described is a Modular Instrumentation System for Electric Vehicle Data Acquisition, Analysis and Display, and Component Control. The system acquires data from and controls (where applicable) the multitude of devices that reside onboard and offboard of the electrical vehicle. For vehicles that have been converted from internal combustion (gasoline or diesel) engines to electric drive, this includes both the components installed as part of the conversion (such as electric motor, motor controller, battery pack and/or the battery management system, and charger), and the original components (such as speed sensor, distance traveled, braking and traction control systems—e.g. ABS and ETC, climate control, entertainment systems).
