Patent number: 11277652Abstract: A system finds and aggregates the most relevant and current information about the people and things that a user cares about. The information gathering is based on current context (e.g., where the user is, what the user is doing, what the user is saying/typing, etc.). The result of the context based information gathering is presented ubiquitously on user interfaces of any of the various physical devices operated by the user.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2020Date of Patent: March 15, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Cesare John Saretto, Peter Tobias Kinnebrew, Nicholas Ferianc Kamuda, Henry Hooper Somuah, Matthew John McCloskey, Douglas C. Patent number: 11184418Abstract: Technologies are described herein for event delivery and stream processing utilizing virtual processing agents. Upon receiving an event publication in a queue, a runtime system identifies one or more virtual processing agents that might be interested in, but have not explicitly subscribed to, the published event. Event information of the published event is then delivered to the identified virtual processing agents. Prior to the actual delivery, the runtime system further determines if the virtual processing agents have been activated and activates those processing agents that have not been activated. Based on the received event information, some of the virtual processing agents might decide to explicitly submit subscriptions to receive more events from the queue. The explicit subscriptions will trigger the runtime system to deliver the subscribed events to the processing agents, which might include past events that have been published in the queue before the explicit subscription is received.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2019Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Henry Hooper Somuah, Sergey Bykov, Tamir Melamed, Robert Louis Rodi, Felix Cheung, Michael William Malyuk, Andrew Alexander Hesky, Gabriel Kliot, Jorgen Thelin, Alan Stuart Geller

Patent number: 8618932Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for improving location awareness of a device. A device position can be determined (e.g., via GPS or some location service), and this position can be used to identify a user-experience that may be in an area around the device, such as within a desired position threshold. A near-field radio system beacon that is associated with the user-experience can be activated in order to identify a distance of the device from the beacon. The beacon can use a near-field radio system ID associated with the device to identify the device, and determine a distance to the device. When a user moves the device to within a threshold distance from the beacon, the user-experience can be activated on the device, such that the user may interact with the user-experience (e.g., to hear a description of artwork as the user navigates through a museum).Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2011Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Eduardo de Mello Maia, Stuart Alan Wyatt, Henry Hooper Somuah, Cesare John Saretto, Dillon Shane Lynch

Publication number: 20110307599Abstract: A proximity network architecture is proposed that enables a device to detect other devices in its proximity and automatically interact with the other devices to share in a user experience. In one example implementation, data and code for the experience is stored in the cloud so that users can participate in the experience from multiple and different types of devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2010Publication date: December 15, 2011Inventors: Cesare John Saretto, Kenneth Hinckley, Jason Alexander Meistrich, Steven Bathiche, Stuart Alan Wyatt, Henry Hooper Somuah, Eduardo de Mello Maia

Publication number: 20100332240Abstract: Decentralized storage of electronic receipts for sharing transaction histories. Merchants generate and digitally sign the electronic receipts for transactions involving electronic content products. The electronic receipts for a user are stored by the user. The user later presents other entities with the electronic receipt as proof of the transaction. The merchants also maintain “graveyard lists,” or lists of cancelled transactions that are used by other merchants to determine whether a particular transaction is still valid. For example, if the electronic content product associated with the particular transaction has been returned or exchanged, the particular transaction is added to the list of cancelled transactions.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2009Publication date: December 30, 2010Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Henry Hooper Somuah, Scott J. Fierstein, Robert Kilroy Hughes, JR.
