  • Patent number: 7410608
Abstract: In some embodiments, a process for manufacturing a diaphragm for an air admittance valve includes disposing a first center disk into a first cavity of a first mold, the first center disk includes a hollow stem. A material is provided into the first mold, through the hollow stem and laterally outwardly beyond a perimeter of the first center disk. The material is allowed to harden to form a lateral membrane coupled to the first center disk and extending laterally beyond a perimeter of the first center disk.

  • Patent number: 7395835
Abstract: In some embodiments, an air admittance valve includes a base, a screen plate and a diaphragm engageable with the screen plate. The diaphragm may include a first center disk having a stem and a membrane coupled to the first center disk. The membrane may have a continuous material sized to extend beyond a perimeter of the first center disk, be formed of a material more pliable than the first center disk and be adapted to be coupled to the first center disk through the center disk stem.

  • Patent number: 6851342
Abstract: Disclosed is a coupler that grips the internal surface of a torque receptor such as a pipe or driveshaft to be turned. When torque is applied to the coupler, one or more gripping surfaces are forced apart by a cam mechanism. The gripping surfaces tightly engage the internal surface of the pipe in response to movement of an internal cam. Torque applied to the wrench causes the pipe to turn. Because the wrench grips the internal diameter of a torque receptor, it can be used without damaging the external surface of the torque receptor, and used in very confined spaces. The gripping surfaces distribute the gripping load evenly across the pipe, which minimizes any deformation of the pipe. The pipe is engaged by the gripping surfaces beyond the threaded portion of the pipe, where the pipe has more structure, to prevent ovaling.

  • Patent number: 6029412
Abstract: An interlocking intumescent collar is disclosed. The collar may be fitted around a pipe at the point where the pipe penetrates a wall or floor. The collar comprises a strip of intumescent material disposed on a collar body. Anchor tabs extend outward from the collar body and are adapted to be fastened to the wall or floor. The collar includes an interlock integral with the anchor tabs. The interlock holds the tabs in overlapping relationship when the collar is placed around a pipe. The interlock integral with the anchor tabs decreases manufacturing costs and facilitates the field installation of the collar.
