    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include methods for adjusting sensitivity of a photodiode in a light detection system. Methods according to certain embodiments include detecting light with a light detection system having a photodiode and an amplifier, determining responsivity of the photodiode over a plurality of wavelengths of light and adjusting one or more parameters of the amplifier in response to the responsivity of the photodiode over the plurality of wavelengths of light. Systems (e.g., particle analyzers) having a light source and a light detection system that includes a photodiode and an amplifier for practicing the subject methods are also described. Non-transitory computer readable storage medium are also provided.

    Abstract: A dry-formed web is transferred at speeds in excess of 300 feet per minute onto a stable, porous, endless belt and both the dry-formed web and the belt are conveyed through the embossing nip. The combination of the dry-formed web and the belt are guided into the embossing nip so that the web and belt partially wraps the embossing roll before entering the embossing nip. As the embossing roll contacts the web, some of the air in the web is forced through the porous belt.

    Abstract: A dispensing port in a wall of a container 10 for dispensing perforated sheets. The dispensing port comprises three slots 62 generally extending radially from a central opening 61 of the dispensing port to form three flexible, triangular flaps 56, the apex 58 of each flap 56 being rounded. The flaps 56 apply tension to a leading sheet being pulled through the slots 62 to cause the leading sheet to be separated from the next sheet at the perforations while leaving a tip 75 of the next sheet projecting through the dispensing port.

    Abstract: A dry-formed nonwoven fabric; preferably an air lay web; including a fiber composition which is at least 50%, by weight, wood pulp fiber less than about 0.635 cm (1/4 inch) in length with 25% or more of the fiber composition in the web, by weight, being kraft wood pulp fibers, and under 50%, by weight, reinforcing fibers intermixed with the wood pulp fibers throughout the web structure; an embossment in the web providing a plurality of compressed, densified valley regions and less-dense high loft regions; the web including no more than about 5.1 g/m.sup.2 (3.0 lbs per ream of 2,880 ft..sup.2) of a binder and having a cross machine direction wet tensile strength no lower than about 0.09 Kg/cm (0.5 lbs/inch), and preferably at least 0.107 Kg/cm (0.6 lbs/inch). A higher cross-machine direction wet tensile strength in excess of 0.267 Kg/cm (1.5 lbs/inch) can be established at a binder level less than 8.5 g/m.sup.2 (5 lbs/ream), and preferably at a binder level between 6.8-8.5 g/m.sup.2 (4-5 lbs/ream).

    Abstract: This invention relates to a carding process for forming a nonwoven fibrous structure including a blend of short fibers under 1/4 inch in length and longer reinforcing fibers. In accordance with the process fibers are separated from a fibrous feed by engaging the feed with projections on the periphery of a main carding drum that is rotating at a surface speed of at least 12,500 feet/minute. The rotating main drum directs the fibers into a working section in which projections on rotating worker and turner satellite rolls cooperate with the projections on the main drum to individualize the fibers and blend them together. The necessary interaction between the projections of the main drum and the projections of the satellite rolls to both individualize and blend the fibers is achieved by pressurizing the working section to a level that minimizes undesirable air flow characteristics about the satellite rolls.
