    Abstract: The present invention provides a medical device for use in inhibiting adhesion of cells. The medical device has a coating comprising a CD46 inhibitor. In one embodiment, the coating further comprises an inhibitor of ? integrin. Also provided is a use of the medical device in a method for inhibiting adhesion of cells. The present invention further provides methods for inhibiting cell-substrate and cell-cell adhesion. Also provided are uses of CD46 inhibitors in these methods. Additionally, the present invention provides methods for promoting cell-substrate and cell-cell adhesion.
